found an article sports.sina.com.cn/o/2004-09-16/10451150127.shtmlit's about the food that the players like to have at the hotel. i've translated the relevant section aka...the part on marat. (my comments in brackets as usual) Marat likes braised meatmost of the athletes are pretty "obedient" and follow the queue when getting their food (or sth like that). all except for russia's safin, who left a deep impression on the staff on his very first day here. while the other players sat patiently to await the arrival of their meal, safin, who was probably exhausted after his training (yeah...suuuuuurrrrreeeee.) just laid down on the sofa and refused to get up. (muhaahahahhaa..marat rejecting food...that's a first!) with the cold winters in russia, russian cuisine is similar to that of china's northeast. Safin enjoys braised meats, such as beef. Knowing Safin's preferences, Shangri-la's chegs specially prepared steak, and russian bbq-ed beef (i think), which safin happily gobbled up. Safin especailly likes healthy food and must have freshly squeezed juice at every breakfast.

extract from an article on eurosport. com:
Russian Marat Safin reached the second round of the rain-hit tournament with a 6-4 7-5 victory over American Alex Bogomolov.
Third seed David Nalbandian finished his delayed match against Kristian Pless of Denmark, the Argentine winning 7-6 3-6 6-3.
Safin and Nalbandian are scheduled to play again later in the day as organisers tried to clear a backlog of matches caused by two days of bad weather.
Former world number one Safin, bidding to win his first title in two years, was never seriously tested by Bogomolov.
The Russian fifth seed wrapped up a comfortable victory with an exquisite drop shot after 71 minutes at Beijing Tennis Centre, venue for the 2008 Olympic tournament.
Safin faces Chinese wildcard Lu Hao in the second round. Lu beat Prakash Amritraj 4-6 6-4 6-2. Nalbandian faces Lu Yen-hsun of Taiwan later on Thursday.
