Poor poor Goran. I came across this article today. I think this is exactly what Marat meant in L'oPTIMUM interview when he said "the most important thing is to have people around whom you can trust and who could give good valuable advice".
Zagreb - Former Wimbledon champion and tennis legend Goran Ivanisevic has admitted in an interview published on Wednesday that he is facing bankruptcy after all his investments in his native Croatia failed.
"Every thing in which I invested money in Croatia went wrong," Ivanisevic told the Globus weekly, adding that it was partly due to the corruption in the country.
In the past seven years, Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon in 2001, has invested money in construction businesses in Croatia, but apparently lost a lot of money.
"I don't belong to any (political) party, I'm not in any lobby or pressure group. I have not bribed anyone, and in construction business in Croatia, you cannot even build a house for a dog if don't give bribes", the 34-year-old told Globus.
He also said the only way to avoid bankruptcy is to continue to play tennis on Senior tour. - Sapa-dpa

i was on the verge of tears when i heard this about goran.he is my all-time tennis hero, he is the reason i became interested in tennis in the first place.i hope the government there will help him in some way, goran is a true patriot, he loves croatia.its a shame that corruption has reduced him to this.

AHaaaa ! I knew there was a topic about Goran somewhere. Well I found something about him, and it's not sad, but I didn't know where to put it.
This is the translation of a short article from sports.fr: Davis Cup-finals: Goran wants to play ! After his country, Croatia, qualified this week end for the final of the Davis cup, Goran Ivanisevic said he'll do everything he could to be the fourth player of the team. The tall Croat, 34 years old, former winner of Wimbledon, told that even if he couldn't, he would cheer for his team as a sort of coach.
Hehe, would be so fun if he played ;D !!! I don't know if he still has the level for such a tie, but if he's able to, it would be really really great for this final.

That is very bad news for Goran, for someone so passionate about his country , there are not many people around, if they had any decency they would support marat thorugh this awkward time.
Anyway to cheer him up, it would be amazing him to see him play at the top level again if he could win the 4th place. it would even be great to see him in a dead rubber being so popular he is!!!!
