Argentine Hood banned for a year
Argentine doubles specialist Mariano Hood has been banned for one year by the International Tennis Federation after a positive dope test. Hood, 32, tested positive for a masking agent, finasteride, after a doubles match at last year's French Open.
An independent tribunal accepted that Hood had taken a treatment to prevent hair loss for several years.
He had failed to notice that finasteride had been added to the list of prohibited substances in 2005.
Hood is the fifth Argentine to be banned for doping in recent years.
Six weeks ago, another Argentine, Mariano Puerta, was banned for a record eight years for failing a drugs test for the second time.
He also tested positive at the French Open, for the banned stimulant etilefrine.
Three other Argentines - Juan Ignacio Chela, Guillermo Coria and Guillermo Canas - have received bans for doping offences in the past five years.
Hood, who has won 13 doubles titles in his career, must forfeit his ranking points and prize money from the French Open.
The ban starts retrospectively from 10 October, 2005.

David Nalbandian has withdrawn from this week's Copa Telmex tournament in his home town of Buenos Aires. The top seed and world number four has a strained abdominal muscle and will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
Nalbandian's compatriot Gaston Gaudio is unable to defend the title because of a sore right shoulder.
On day one, second seed Guillermo Coria beat Jiri Vanek 6-1 2-6 7-6 (7-2), and Juan Carlos Ferrero edged past Juan Martin Del Potro 6-2 4-6 6-4.
"To come back from 3-0 down in the third set feels great," said Coria. "The crowd really supported me and I played my all.
"Vanek is an excellent player, very solid and he was very difficult, but I managed to prevail
