Richard's last match of the season wasn't one of his best (to put it mildly, LOL) but he still can be proud of 2007: He broke into the Top 10 for the first time, he reached his first Grand Slam-semifinal, he made it to the TMC and he won the tournament in Mumbai. So he has a lot of good reasons to give the reporters a big smile during his post-match interview ;D Have a relaxing end of the year and good luck in 2008

Richie shouldn't have been so nice to Tsonga - he lost to him in 4 sets And he still hugged him after the match - these two are too cute together Congrats to Tsonga; and Richie - you'll be sent to your room tonight, for lousy play! Mom has spoken, lol

some cute Team France piccies from DC press conference a little blurb from the DC write-up about the draw ... In spite of the natural emotion drawn by a first career selection, Tsonga is looking ready to live up to the occasion. “He’s been playing so well in practice, that he can do damage even if he held his racket from the wrong end,” Gasquet joked on Wednesday. ;D www.daviscup.com/news/newsarticle.asp?articleid=14483

from atp ... Gasquet Launches Foundation for Disadvantaged Youth Top Frenchman Richard Gasquet announced the launch of his own Foundation at the Open 13 in Marseille on Tuesday. The Richard Gasquet Foundation aims to help adolescents who struggle to find their place in society and who suffer from a lack of confidence. It will use sport as a way to bring underprivileged youths back to health and enable them to rediscover the joys of life; and as a way to build a future. "I had the luck of being surround by people that enabled me to play tennis well from a very early age," said the 21-year-old Gasquet. "I'm aware that this is not the case for everyone. Yet everybody has a certain talent and potential that needs developing." Prior to the creation of his Foundation, Gasquet had taken part in numerous educational initiatives under the guise of the Jean-Luc Lagardere Foundation. And now with the launch of his own foundation, Gasquet hopes to invest himself even further in such initiatives. "I want to be able to achieve success on the court without cutting myself off from the rest of the world," said the World No. 7. "Top class sportsmen should not live in an isolated world - they should feel concerned by the world that surrounds them and try and help others." With an initial operational budget of 200,000 Euros over three years, the Foundation will work under the support of Richard Gasquet, the Jean-Luc Lagardere Foundation and other partners. www.fondationrichardgasquet.com/

Gasquet may skip French Open sports.yahoo.com/ten/news;_ylt=AsyV4yhtp_gilH7BiPTdooE4v7YF?slug=txgasquetfrenchopen&prov=st&type=lgns HAMBURG, GERMANY (TICKER) —Richard Gasquet may withdraw from the upcoming French Open after claiming he is “not fit to play tennis.” The 21-year-old, who is ninth in the world rankings and the French No. 1, has endured a wretched 2008 as he has not progressed past the round of 16 in any event this year. Gasquet followed up his first round exit at the hands of Luis Horna in Rome last week by losing, 6-3, 6-2, to Andreas Seppi in his opening match at this week’s Masters Series tournament in Hamburg. Gasquet said he is now contemplating missing his home country’s Grand Slam event. “I am completely burned out,” he said. “I haven’t fully recovered from the efforts I made last year. And I am paying for it at the moment. I am not fit to play tennis - running, moving, everything is becoming difficult. “I am going to cut myself off for the week. Forgetting about my racquet can’t do me any harm. For Roland Garros, we will see. Don’t expect a big tournament from me if I take part in it.” The French Open begins May 25 and Gasquet fears it could be embarrassing for him if he does take part in the tournament, given his current form. “It is nearly two years since I have had a break. I miss that,” Gasquet said. “Imagine what I would do at Roland Garros, it would not be nice for anyone.” Gasquet won a career-high 49 matches in 2007, claiming a fifth career ATP title and reaching two other finals. He also reached the semifinals at Wimbledon, the first time he had gone that deep into in a major.
