Murray handed tricky Hamburg draw Murray went out of the Rome Masters in the first round Andy Murray will face fellow teenager Gael Monfils in the first round of the Hamburg Masters as he looks to kick-start his clay-court season. The Scot, who turns 19 on Monday, has posted only one win on the surface.
Monfils, 19, arrives in Hamburg after an encouraging run to the semi-finals of the Rome Masters.
Greg Rusedski, who has replaced Murray as Britain's number one, faces a qualifier while Tim Henman is not ranked high enough to gain entry.
Top seed and world number one Roger Federer opens the defence of his title against German wildcard Rainer Schuettler, while world number two Rafael Nadal is up against another home hope in Tommy Haas.

To be honest i have watched Tim a fair amount of time this year and his level of Tennis has been of a good level, it's only that he has had a recurrance of his back injury or he has met players who have played inspired Tennis against him and lets not forget he beat Marat at Miami. Also i think he plays his best tennis when there is less pressure on him and so hopefully in the upcoming grass season we may see good results

Rusedski claims number one spot Rusedski reached the third round in Rome before losing to Andy Roddick Greg Rusedski has been confirmed as the new British number one, having outperformed Andy Murray at the Rome Masters last week. Rusedski, 32, reached the third round in Italy and took 40th spot in the ATP world rankings released on Monday.
But 19-year-old Murray, who had been the leading Briton since February, was down to 46 after suffering first-round exits in three of his last four events.
Tim Henman is Britain's number three with a world ranking of 72.
I think Andy is going to still be British number one for a long time
Greg Rusedski
"It's come more of a surprise to me now to be British number one," Rusedski said after his performance in Rome.
"You try for something so hard, and sometimes when you take a back seat and don't focus on it as much, things work out better for you.
"I think that was the key for me - just relaxing, enjoying my tennis, not putting pressure on it.
Both brits play tomorrow
M 1 Matches Start At 11:00am Gael MONFILS (FRA) vs Andy MURRAY (GBR) followed by Fernando GONZALEZ (CHI) vs Dmitry TURSUNOV (RUS) followed by Greg RUSEDSKI (GBR) vs Gilles SIMON (FRA)

Some good news and bad news iman
Murray goes through, Rusedski out Murray clinched only his second victory on clay at an ATP event Andy Murray returned to winning ways on clay but fellow Briton Greg Rusedski was sent crashing out of the first round of the Hamburg Masters. Murray, 19, mixed up the pace to upset big-hitting Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-4 6-1 and claim only his second ATP clay-court victory.
The young Scot will next play American James Blake, who beat Carlos Moya.
But Rusedski, who had replaced Murray as Britain's number one, was crushed 6-1 6-1 by Gilles Simon of France.
Just one day after leapfrogging Murray in the ATP rankings, the world number 40 won just two games in the rain-hit clash at the Rothenbaum Club.
The 32-year-old held his serve at the start but disintegrated shortly after as his 21-year-old opponent took just 19 minutes to race through the first set.
Despite a rain delay, Rusedski failed to stop his rapid slide, winning just the fourth game of the second set and offering little resistance as Simon went on to easily claim victory.
Earlier, Murray bounced back from a recent poor run with an accomplished performance against in-form Monfils in the battle of the teenagers. It was the pair's first meeting in a senior event and came after world number 29 Monfils reached the semi-finals of last week's Rome Masters, where Murray went out in the first round.
But on a breezy day in Hamburg, the Scot used a variety of slices and short balls to unsettle the Frenchman, who held just three of his service games.
"I played pretty solid and I knew what I wanted to do," he said afterwards
"He's the sort of player who likes to sit back and play a lot of topspin. He doesn't go for too much when it's level and I was trying to go for a bit more off my forehand.
"Once you go ahead against him, he tries to take some more risks and doesn't really like it so much, as you saw at the start of the second set."
