I don't believe it. Spent ages this afternoon trying to get through on the hotline for tickets for the Davis Cup tie in April. Couldn't get through. Then had friends trying to order tickets online ... that didn't work either. I don't even know if the tickets are sold out. Think I might burst into tears at tomorrow's meeting and try the sympathy vote with the LTA ... grown men won't be able to handle the tears ... or I could try the puss in boots a la Shrek style and do the big eyes routine. If that doesn't work, I'll try begging. I have no pride left ... Anybody any idea if tickets are still available? I ain't a happy puppy.

;D Met with LTA this morning. If I'm helping out with promoting the event, surely they'll spare me a ticket! Preferably a 3 day ticket! I'll sweep the floor ... clean Jeremy's boots ... wipe Andy's forehead when he sweats. Yip, no pride or dignity left. There's a lot of work in organising this event - but the LTA guys have got it down to a t. The lead in time is pretty short, so I'd imagine we'll be pretty busy in the new year. Apparently we could expect to see several hundred media people turn up to cover the event. It'll be a big boost for tennis in Scotland I don't doubt. A lot of the pr in the run up is likely to focus on raising the profile of tennis, particularly amongst kids. (Ashamed to say that this was the first time I was in Braehead even though it's on my doorstep so to speak. It was huge ... and I couldn't find my way out. I got lost between Sainsburys and Next! I'll take a compass next time. It's one hell of a shopping centre).

Waaaah. I know. I was stuck in a meeting and came back in to the office and they broke the news to me. It was a shameful scene for my colleagues to witness. Guess I'll need to brush up on my begging technique between now and the tie. Watch the beeb in April. I'll be the muppet sweeping the floor between rubbers.

Hey Jewell - you got Wimbles for goodness sake! You can't have it all ... give us Scots a chance Re the hair, I quite like the long hair look. It takes me back to the 80s. I feel like a teenager again. Peter Lundgren was cute with long blonde hair ... he could easily give Marat a run for his money on the cute stakes. ;D

Murray celebrates BBC Sport award Andy Murray has been named BBC Scotland Sports Personality of the Year 2005. Dunblane teenager Murray won more than 50% of the votes and accepted his award from Hibernian manager Tony Mowbray. Murray said: "It has been non-stop since Wimbledon: I've played well against Roger Federer, the world number one, and I have beaten Tim Henman. "I've also reached the final of an ATP tournament. If someone had told me that at the start of the year I'd have been pretty chuffed." Murray is a Hibernian supporter and Mowbray revealed that the Hibs players are all big admirers of the young tennis talent. "He is an inspiration to everyone with the way he looks after himself. My young players look up to him in the dressing room," said Mowbray.

Well ... think Andy's got a bit of a coo's lick (as we'd say in Scotland). Translation: Bit of a 'cow's lick' on the fringe front. You can work that one out. Think about it.

Hope you all have a merry Christmas and 2006 brings good fortune to Marat on the knee front! I pray he wins Wimbledon! Get that nonsense out of his head about playing on grass.
