Jings. He beat The Maestro. Jings. I'm still stunned. What a display. He was brill - hope he keeps it up. It'll be nice to see more kids take up tennis in Scotland as a result of this. It always happens. Borg had the same effect in Sweden. Maybe Andy hitting the top spot in a few years isn't such an unlikely feat after all. Jings. PS Still without a computer. God bless public libraries.

Ah well. It had to end at some point ... but what a run. ;D Think Andy will get his erse kicked by Brad though after the Roddick match. Andy was aiming a few pot shots about Gilbert's support during the second set. He's going to have to realise that Brad IS supporting him - by being there.
First test of the new relationship perhaps?
PS In a public library again. And I'm going to order a new pc today. Had enough of this tinkering around.
Another PS Believe that Brad is set to send Andy to boot camp for a week before the US Open. Hee hee. God help him. I'll think about him while I've got my feet up on the sofa and lounging with a beer.

HE BEAT GONZO!!! YAY!!! ;D
Murray battles to beat Gonzalez
Andy Murray came from two sets to one down to earn a thrilling 6-3 3-6 2-6 6-3 6-2 win over Fernando Gonzalez in the third round of the US Open. Murray began nervously, losing his opening service game, but soon found his form to take the first set.
The Chilean then unleashed his vicious forehand and looked headed for victory as he took the next two sets.
But Murray lifted himself to snatch the fourth set, and two breaks at the start of the fifth set him up for victory.
"I just kept fighting," said Murray.
"He's so difficult to play against. He slices every backhand and then as soon as he gets a chance on a forehand he hits it really hard so it's difficult to get into a rhythm against him.
"But when you're playing best of five sets you have to hang in until the end."
Murray will face seventh seed Nikolay Davydenko in the last 16 after the Russian thrashed Lukasz Kubot of Poland.
"I'm looking forward to it," added Murray. "I think I showed today that I'm getting physically stronger and I'm playing the best tennis of my life."
The 19-year-old is right to be confident after beating 10th seed Gonzalez from a seemingly doomed position.
In a see-saw first set, Murray broke Gonzalez's serve three times but he did not have another break point until the eighth game of the fourth set.
The Chilean, combining a degree of guile with his devastating power, looked in complete control as he cruised into a two sets to one lead.
But Murray proved he has added match toughness to his undoubted talent.
He stuck with Gonzalez in the fourth set and then found a series of magnificent returns to break at 4-3.
He carried the momentum into the fifth set and at 5-1 had to keep his composure as a storm erupted at the other end of the court.
Gonzalez, who had already been warned for breaking his racket in the previous game, was docked a point for smashing a ball out of the stadium and had several long arguments with the umpire as the crowd voiced their support for the Chilean.
However, it failed to unnerve Murray, who served out a bold victory to love.
As Annie said Britain vs Russia in USO - COME ON ANDY!!! ;D

I'm not so confident. It will be a Russian victory this time, I fear.

He he he. Andy v Davydenko. Sorry Annie, I'm supporting Andy on this one. Last night was quite a belter. Marat and Andy winning ... and now Peter is apparently a possible coach for the GB Davis Cup team. Jings. Have to say, it was good to see both boys so focused on the game in hand. Hopefully that's something Marat will take away from his time with Peter - he seems to have instilled a bit more calm around his play. Here's hoping it lasts even if their coaching partnership is at an end. Awwww. Brad seems to be instilling a lot more confidence in Andy. He's strutting his stuff on court now. Still looks like a scrawny Scottish teenager though. Needs to get a bit more muscle on him ... not too much. Can't see Andy's wee heid on Rafa's body somehow. Don't think he'd suit the troosers! PS I'm hanging around the public library again. Bought a new computer. It doesn't work. And I think I'm developing an ulcer. Last night's tennis didn't help. I am cursed. Think I'll go roll in some white heather ... it'll probably have sheep dung in it. ;D

All good things must come to an end. A temporary one at that. ;D Both our boys can't complain. They had a good run at the US. Think it'll be a confidence booster for them too. It was great to see them play so well. Hopefully an omen for the remainder of the season. Would have loved to have seen Marat and Andy square up though. Would probably have been a 5 setter. PS Finished installing my software last night at midnight on the new pc. Sound system still ain't working ... good grief. No more hanging around in public libraries fighting with small schoolboys any more for me though. A few of them have had their erse kicked by me in the last few weeks I can tell you. At least now I'll be able to send on my Wimbles pics for Annie to post! 2 months later! Another PS Annie, woman in the know, who was the blonde with the big jugs on display at Marat's match? She almost had my eye out.

Paris Masters. Ah well, the boy did fight back in the first set. Amazing to get to a tiebreak after the poor start - although God knows what happened in the second set. Andy's mum and Brad looked pretty glum. Think Andy and Brad will have had a lover's tiff in the locker room tonight. My money's on Brad. PS Go Marat go. Get yer wee arse off the baseline and get in to the net against Haas. Looking forward to tomorrow night - although I would have liked to have seen a rematch against Gasquet. ;D
