so, apparently, in addition to Kuala Lumpur, Pete & Roger are going to have 2 other exos in Asia in November, plus the newly added 4th exo in NYC at Madison Square Garden on March 10, 2008 (he mentioned it on his talk-show rounds he did on Monday)

Basel today (from the atp): World No. 1 and defending champion Roger Federer converted four break points to record his ninth straight victory against Nicolas Kiefer 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 11 minutes and record his 544th career victory, which sees him overtake Carlos Moya (543) as the most active match wins leader on the ATP circuit.Federer is now just two wins away from clinching the year-end World No. 1 ranking for the fourth straight season. He has amassed six titles in 2007, including the Australian Open (d. Gonzalez), Wimbledon (d. Nadal) and the US Open (d. Djokovic), and recorded a 61-7 season. He is trying to claim his second title in Basel, his home event, after defeating Gonzalez in the 2006 final. He next will face either Ivo Karlovic or No. 5 seed Tomas Berdych. .... he keeps it up -- the whole record book is going to have his name on it

from atp ... ;D FEDERER AS KING ARTHUR October 31, 2007 Federer Holds Session in King Arthur's Court ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer is a scary site with a tennis racquet in his hand. But there's no telling how much damage he could do with a sword. Thankfully an armor-clad Federer was only playing to the camera when he unsheathed a sword recently. Dressed as King Arthur from "The Sword in the Stone" for Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion, Federer was photographed by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. The finished photo, entitled "Where You're Always King of the Court," shows Federer, red cape flowing, beside a roiling sea. "I always think it's cute when little kids dress up as Robin Hood or Tarzan," Federer said. "So when they approached me to do King Arthur I thought the idea was absolutely great. Now that you're older you don't get dressed up for a birthday party any more, so to be in armor was a special thing. "I did feel strong on that rock. Everybody is looking at me. I'm higher than everybody. I got the sword, I got the armor and I got the longer hair going. It was a lot of fun." Also photographed recently for Disney Park's 'Year of a Million Dreams' were actresses Rachel Weisz (as Snow White) and Julie Andrews (as the Blue Fairy from "Pinocchio") and Abigail Breslin (as Fira from "Disney Fairies") They join Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Beyoncé as "Alice in Wonderland" twirling in a teacup and David Beckham atop a steed as Prince Phillip from "Sleeping Beauty" in a 14-page insert appearing later this year in several Condé Nast publications. Johansson, Beyoncé and Beckham also starred in the first flight of Leibovitz images last January. The special insert will be unveiled in the December editions of Cookie, Condé Nast Traveler, Details, Glamour, GQ, Men's Vogue, New Yorker, Self, Vanity Fair, Vogue and W.

Federer Wins First of Three Exhibitions Against Sampras .... it was pretty fun to watch, Pete kept up with Fed more than I thought he would ... and it got more fun as the match went on, as they warmed up, some great shots and rallies from both donning traditional robes ;D ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer won the first of three exhibition matches over American Pete Sampras 6-4, 6-3 in Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday. The pair will now travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a second clash on Thursday, before playing again in Macau, China, two days later. Sampras fired two aces in his first service game to bring the crowd to their feet at the Olympic Tennis Arena in Seoul. He went on to break the Federer serve to move into a 4-2 lead courtesy of a delicate drop shot. “I feel pretty good,” said 36-year-old Sampras after the game. “I made it competitive, which was my goal. Obviously Roger is the best player in the world and I retired five years ago. I am grateful that he invited me.” The trademark service action and solid volleys were on display, but the 14-time Grand Slam champion was slower around the court and made a number of unforced errors that Federer capitalized on to take the first set. Federer, who captured his fourth Tennis Masters Cup title on Sunday, took control of the second set with a minimum of fuss. “Pete was one of my idols growing up and it's great to play him,” Federer said. “It wasn't easy for me, it wasn't easy for him as he's been retired five years. I am number one and everyone expects me to win.” Sampras won his final competitive match over Andre Agassi in the US Open final in September 2002. The American, who finished year-end World No. 1 six straight years between 1993-1998, officially retired one year later. Federer and Sampras met only once at Wimbledon in 2001. Federer won the fourth round match 7-6(7), 5-7, 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5. [it's eerie when they start throwing numbers and stats out, comparing the two -- how close they are ... and the irony that the only time they played was at Wimby, crazy ... think it would be mucho fun to see them play each other on grass]

Fed v Pete Part II -- goes Fed's way again, but this went to 2 TBs this time!
"I had a taste of what the best is and I think Roger has that extra gear," said Sampras. "He has good volleys and he has this little backhand flick that honestly, I have never seen before... it's something that I didn't have."
Federer was equally full of praise for 36-year-old Sampras, saying he had lost little from his trademark serve.
"I am really, really impressed by the way he's been playing," said the Swiss. "He's got the most incredible serve you know. I can't read it, he serves it to the line, he serves harder than me."
The pair will play the final exhibition match in Macau, China, on Saturday.
