Dima news:
Tursunov rallies to push into Thailand semifinals Sep. 28, 2007
NONTHABURI, Thailand -- Sixth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov of Russia bounced back from a set down to beat Taiwan's Wang Yeu-tzuoo 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to book a semifinal spot in the ATP Thailand Open on Friday. The Russian baseliner used his superior ground strokes to enjoy his best result since winning in Indianapolis a few months ago.
"He returned well. I thought I would get points from my serves but they came back pretty penetrative. But I felt pretty good in the end and was happy to manage to win," said Tursunov.
"After you have been on the tour for five to six years, other players know your game. I'm in a position to be under pressure because I have higher ranking and have more to lose. It's psychological (pressure) that everybody has to deal with," said Tursunov.
He next plays Spanish eighth seed Fernando Verdasco who also rallied from behind to beat Nicolas Mahut of France 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in two hours and 26 minutes.
Mahut was serving for the match at 6-5 in the second set but the Spaniard threw in his last effort to break for a tie-break and won comfortably. A crucial break in the seventh game in the third set was enough for Verdasco to win.
"I had a lot of confidence and played with power in the tie-break. After I took the second set, I was confident for the rest of the match, said the world No. 36.

Report: Tursunov says he was offered bribes multiple times 9/28/2007 10:44:00 AM
MOSCOW (AP) -Russian tennis player Dmitry Tursunov said he was approached several times with offers of bribes to fix matches, a newspaper reported Friday.
``I was approached in Madrid in the middle of the season last year, and at some other tournament,'' Tursunov told the daily Izvestia.
The 29th-ranked Tursunov, who played on the Russian team that beat Germany in the Davis Cup semifinals last weekend, refused to say how much he was offered or give more details.
Another Russian, Nikolay Davydenko, is under scrutiny after a British online gambling company tracked bettors putting 10 times the usual amount of money on a match he played in August. Davydenko has denied any involvement in gambling.
On Thursday, two Belgian players said they had been approached to take bribes to lose matches. One player said one of the bribes was for a match at Wimbledon in 2005.
