during wimbledon, i was struggling to watch the sharapova williams match.
they were screaming n grunting soooooo much!
i just dont think it is that necessary! i don't mind a bit of grunting but they were soooo loud!
i am not a huge fan of sharapova anyway.
i can completely understand why the russian girls don't like her, she is a wannabe american!
She should be a proud Russian like myskina, dementieva and lets not forget SAFIN!

what exactly makes Myskina, Dementieva & Marat proud Russians and Maria not? Marat hasn't live in russia since he was 13 and Maria is willing to play Fed Cup

Maria hasn't been to Russia for years. Maria hasn't played a single tournament in Russia  Maria is being persuaded to play for Russia in Fed Cup for over a year now One thing that horrifies me most is that she is starting to forget the language. I watched an interview or hers a few weeks ago and she had such a tough time finding the words in Russian!!!! But then again, I am in no way blaming Maria for anything. She's waaaay too young and all this is a result of her upbringing. I am glad she's playing for Russia though  |

Maria is being persuaded to play for Russia in Fed Cup for over a year now would you want to play on a team where you weren't wanted? With all the comments going around from her teammates' mouths, ugh i sure wouldn't put up with all that and no one wanted her to play prior to Wimby last year, so that only makes 3 or 4 fed cups rounds they have even asked her about. She is only 18 and Russia has more then enough players to fill in a Fed Cup team lol actually they have enough to fill 2 teams  I don't think i would play either if i was her |

i think this is only one site. If you see, how she and her father act on court and on practise, scream against her opponents and all these other things, i would not have that kind of player in my team !!!

yeh correct me if i'm rong but i watched this doco on her during wimbledon n it said she originally from serbia.
also the reason y there is a lot of tension between sharapova n the otha russian girls is maria's dad was making fun of them during a practice session, especially myskina. They found that very insulting. this could just be a rumour so once again i cud b wrong

Maria is not from Serbia, she IS indeed Russian, she is from a little town in Siberia.
I have nothing against her personally..seriously I don't. I might not like her attitude on court or get bad vibes but I am under no circumstances underestimating her willpower, her drive and her incredible ability to play tennis at such an early age. I just read too much crappy stuff about her Dad's behaviour and some of his quotes about other Russian girls on the team I personally find offensive. However, I don't know the details and all I know I read in the newspapers or saw on TV.
I personally think that she suffers a lot from her Dad's behaviour mostly,which sometimes influences hers, too since he is a role model for her (which is very natural, my Dad is for me, too)

To be honest, I hate the scream.
If she started screeching during a match where she was playing against me, I'd deliberately aim shots at her head in hope of getting the ball in her mouth.
I wouldn't care if I lose, but to make her shut up for that short time would be worth it.
