Well, looked around and it seems that Lindsay doesn't have a thread yet, so I thought I would start one for her. And to make the first post a special one, I thought this little article might be a nice way to kick it all off: Tennis Star Lindsay Davenport PregnantWEDNESDAY DECEMBER 13, 2006 06:00 PM EST By Stephen M. Silverman There's love off the courts for tennis champ Lindsay Davenport. The three-time major winner, 30, and her investment-banker husband, Jonathan Leach, are expecting their first child come early summer, according to a statement from her agent to the Associated Press. The pregnancy will cause this year's 25th-ranked tennis star to miss the start of next season. The rep did not say when Davenport might resume play. All told, the California native has won 51 titles in singles, 36 in doubles, and finished the 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2005 seasons ranked No. 1. Davenport took the U.S. Open singles title in 1998, Wimbledon in 1999 and the Australian Open in 2000, as well as an Olympic gold medal in 1996. But despite her victories on the court, life wasn't always so easy for Davenport. When she won the '98 Open at age 22, she told Sports Illustrated that her teen years had been difficult. "I wasn't a perfect thing at 17," she said. "I didn't have confidence. I was hunched over and real embarrassed, and I didn't want to be in the limelight. But it changed over time. The last couple of years I've gained a lot of confidence. That's the most exciting thing: how much I've had to change to win." Congratulations to Lindsay and her husband! She's a great player and an even better person. I'm positive she'll be an amazing mom. I just hope this doesn't mean the end of her career. To think, women's tennis might lose Kim and Lindsay in the same year....

Pregnant Davenport to take break Davenport has won 51 singles titles in a glittering career Lindsay Davenport is likely to retire from tennis after announcing she is expecting her first child. The former world number one is due to give birth early next summer and so will definitely miss the start of the 2007 season.
"I hate the word 'retirement' but this season was such a struggle physically for me and I can't imagine playing again," the 30-year-old told ESPN.com.
"I feel like the second part of my life is about to begin."
She added: "I can't say there's any sadness yet about missing tennis. My life is with my husband and my future child.
"I feel so lucky that if everything goes well, I'm able to go out like this. The timing couldn't be better."
In 2004 Davenport said she planned to retire at the end of that year but changed her mind and continued playing.
Injury restricted her to just eight tournaments this year with her last appearance in Beijing in September.
Davenport, who picked up an Olympic gold medal with the USA in 1996, won the US Open in 1998 before beating Steffi Graf in the Wimbledon final the following year.
She also won the 2000 Australian Open and finished 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2005 ranked number one in the world.
She has won 51 singles titles and is currently 25th in the world rankings.

Davenport plans to return to singles Posted: Tuesday July 31, 2007 5:15PM; Updated: Tuesday July 31, 2007 5:15PM JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- Lindsay Davenport will return to singles for the first time in a year at a September tournament in Bali, with plans for a limited schedule in 2008 leading to the Olympics.
Davenport, who gave birth to a son in June, is scheduled to play Sept. 10, organizers of the Wismilak International said Tuesday. Davenport, a former No. 1 player, recently announced she would play doubles with Lisa Raymond at the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven, Conn., in August. She has not competed on the WTA Tour since reaching the Beijing quarterfinals in September 2006.
Davenport probably will play more singles events this fall after Bali and enter several bigger tournaments next year, said her agent, Tony Godsick. The plan is to stick to a limited schedule in 2008 and focus on the Beijing Games, he said.
Davenport has won three Grand Slams and a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She captured the Wismilak title in 2005.
