i saw the match marat served very well during the hole match but he made a lot of unforced errors he twisted his ankle and he stayed in the floor for a minute (it was a very scary situation because he was unable to stand up until de umpire helped him) the surface was horrible marat and potito complained a lot about it
i hope you understand my bad english!

Be careful! Stay healthy and happy. I love to suffer(ranking ups and downs) , but definitely not this kind of suffer(sidelined by any injuries).

yep, i also saw the match. The commentators were totally gay again..it seems like the idea of being neutral totally disappears when they comment Marat's matches i sincerely still don't get it why he lost...he was the better player, the courageous and inspired player. There was only one man in there,as Starace was just a wall Marat was hitting against. The unforced errors drove him into losing the first set and to that break in the decisive which slipped through his fingers. Saved a matchpoint but for nothing. Anyway, about the injury...At first sight it looked horrible. For a second i thought this is where his carreer ends(it's understandable as he couldn't even get up), but it was just a twist of ankle. He didn't even call the medical team, but it was obvious that throughout the next game (a potential break he could've taken) he was still thinking of what could've happened. His first serve was killer, unlike his second... Oh well....*shrug*

ok you make is sound very scary when you say "career ending" I am just glad he is ok well it seems now that Marat created some buzz back here in London, everyone is covering his progress in tennis tournies again Safin Crashes to Starace
Potito Starace beat Russian Marat Safin in the second round of the Swedish Open to take his second win in a row over a former world number one at the claycourt tournament.
The Italian, who beat Spain's Carlos Moya in the previous round, took advantage of Safin's lack of recent claycourt practice to win 7-6 3-6 6-4 and set up a meeting with Czech fourth seed Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals.
"I played as well as I could but it's tough to change surfaces in such short time," said Safin, who last week reached the Wimbledon semi-finals where he was beaten by Roger Federer.
Although losing by little against Starace, Safin struggled to find his game and threw his racket in anger several times.Well no matter what, big change in surface, so at least he won a match Btw i LOVE the blue!!! ;D BRING ON THE HARDCOURTS!!! ;D ;D ;D

I am imagining you are a pretty young girl - but you really need to consider the way you make this kind of reference: "The commentators were totally gay again" - it's the second time i have seen you make this comment.....my problem is this implies some kind of homophobia which I find quite disturbing.
I too watched Marat's match against Starace and Marat played horribly for most of it. There was a lack of focus and intensity throughout, and although he played well in the second set, he lost it in the third and frankly, the game that cost him the match wasn't so much Potito breaking Marat's serve, as a give away by Marat - the weakest game of the entire match in the most important game of the match. Marat was not the better player overall, although he did play some great points and he did serve some good aces, generally i thought his first serve was poor - and he didn't play consistently enough to deserve to win.
The fall was more a twist of the foot as it got stuck in the clay while he was sliding rather than the ankle, and the 'lengthy' lie down was a bit of drama queening in my opinion, as he began playing immediately with no sign of discomfort after Mohammad had hauled him up onto his feet, I don't think it was that big a deal, and i don;t think it contributed to him losing.
Marat's head wasn't in that match and it showed in his form - maybe Gerard's secretary distracted him?
I take it Gumy went home to see his family before Toronto - lets hope Marat gets some relaxation on his week at home, then re-focuses and keeps his momentum in the HC season - he needs to do well if he is going to get seeded for the USO and reap the rewards for all the hard work he has done. This tourney was an anomaly in his schedule in view of his results at Wimbledon - so I suppose this was to be expected.
