should be mighty entertaining ;D bummed that Bob & Mike aren't playing ... but as long as they're good to go for Portland I have no qualms thought it was bizarre to see that Robredo & Chela are 1st and 2nd alts ... not that it's any biggie, just didn't expect to see them as the alts

The first photo of the Top 8 ;D Somehow the Terracotta Warriors look like Chocolate Warriors to me - now that would be a good marketing joke for Christmas, don't you think? Having a little chocolate Roger or Rafa or... under the tree?

What a start into the tournament! Two really good matches - sadly both with the wrong winners (for my taste) Richie choked major time after dominating Rafa in the first set and lost 63 36 46. Novak was fitter than in Paris but not agile enough to withstand Ferrer's relentless groundstrokes; he went down 46 46 Still, I'm glad I was watching since I won't be able to see tennis during the week, like most working Europeans. More photos from the opening ceremony under these links: www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=112990&page=2sports.sina.com.cn/tennis/mas...83/index.shtmlTomorrow's matches start later: Monday, November 12, 2007, 3 pmMark Knowles (BAH) / Daniel Nestor (CAN) vs Arnaud Clement (FRA) / Michael Llodra (FRA) Not before 5:00 pm Nikolay Davydenko (RUS) vs Andy Roddick (USA) Not before 7:30 pm Roger Federer (SUI) vs Fernando Gonzalez (CHI) followed by Simon Aspelin (SWE) / Julian Knowle (AUT) vs Lukas Dlouhy (CZE) vs Pavel Vizner (CZE)

they didn't show the singles matches today, but they did show doubles - which were exciting too (been a while since I had watched any doubles - fun times) .... and they had Mark Knowles in the commentating booth for one of the matches, and they talked about how almost all the teams at Shanghai are splitting up for next year, mixing all the players up (to confuse the fans, haha ) ... gonna be interesting suprised to see Novak/Ferrer scoreline, but yay for David thanks for passing along the links to opening ceremony pics Annette! now the question is, do I really want to get up at 4 am tomorrow to watch Andy/Nikolay (possible DC preview) ?? ;D

awww .... really like the last pic with Rafa & Richie ... and their expressions looking at their statues -- too funny ;D .... and all dressed up for the red carpet & opening ceremony saw too, in the MTF thread with the pics, they also had the video of the arrivals & the opening ceremony -- fun to watch (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=112990&page=4 -- near the bottom of the page) ...... we just got TTC beginning of the year I think, and now I can't think of life without it! ;D Especially at MS weeks as it's just on all day (and they show the walk-out, coin toss, warm-up fully as opposed to other channels -- find it fun to see all that stuff -- and they keep on during injury stuff -- also interesting to see all the goings on with that) anyway ....
