Hi everybody ;D After reading that there will come a lot of you to Hamburg (May 10th - May 18th, 2008) I decided to create a new thread! I can't wait no more to enjoy watching tennis in real... Here are some information:I haven't found any information yet which players definately come to Hamburg, sorry! But I will publish it as soon as practiable! Beside to the "young and still professional players" there will appear some former players at BlackRock Tour of Champions Hamburg 2008. Pat Cash, Marc-Kevin Goellner, Magnus Gustafsson, Goran Ivanisevic, Anders Jarryd, Henri Leconte,Thomas Muster and Michael Stich will participate. So, you can post everything ringht here concerning Hamburg, of course. Come to Hamburg, it is worth it!  By the way, who has planned to attend?

Hi dawaymarat! I will come to Hamburg!!!! But I just will come to Hamburg, if Marat will start there!!! I heard about the oldies matches!!! Hahaha! That will be interesting!!! I like Henri Leconte and of course Goran!!!! ( OMG is that so long away, that I had Gorans Poster in my kids room???) Time pass by so quick!!!! Hahaha!! I know that frensje and Annie ( administrator) will also come to Hamburg!!! Are you from Hamburg?  I am from Dortmund!!!!!! |

3 WC are out ... Kiefer, Berrer and Beck ... fourth is to be named later ... Reckon Marat is maybe cutting it a bit fine - possibly may not see him here? ? |

Only if he's willing to play Qualification - 4th WC will most certainly go to another German player, it's the tournament policy. I don't expect him to show up - but then he was willing to play the additional rounds in Munich... Still, qualification field in Hamburg is so strong that getting through to the main draw wouldn't be a guarantee for Marat - I don't know if he would risk it. Quali loss is bad for the ego...  We'll find out next week. I am expecting the 4th WC to go to Gremelmayr - he did pretty well against Fed in Estoril and now he's in the semis in Barcelona, after defeating Almagro. |

he beat no 9 Tomas berdych a few weeks back. He can beat a qualifier. |

Will Marat play the qualy if a WC is not granted? He hasn't signed up yet?

There was no guarantee Marat would pass through the quallies in Munich and yet he was willing to play them. Like Annette said, the quallies field in Hamburg is pretty strong so it would be less of a ego bruise to play those than the Munich ones. I still hope he gets the WC for direct main draw entry, but if not quallies is a strong option here IMO.
p.s. Gremelmayer has signed up for the Zagreb challenger that takes place on the Hamburg week so he is not available for WC in Hamburg.

I think playing qualies again would maybe not be as bad a choice as it is a healthy field to compete against but he probably wont get a WC entry into the main draw but maybe into the qualifier as they do tend to give the main draw WC to a German player although im hoping they would give it to Marat as he is a double finalist at the event.

We will cheer him up with the russian flag, which I bought this year in moscow!
My son will take this flag!!
This weekend is "port" party in Hamburg, so this will be a fantastic weekend!
I hope to see a lot of TGFR girls there!

Haha, I absolutely agree with you, there is no way of avoiding to lose! ;D I will definately support you, Marat! Anyway, I'm still conviced he'll get in the main draw...Andy Roddick for example has never played in Hamburg when I went to watch! And I came regularly in the last three years! ;D By the way, does anybody know who gets the last wildcard??? |
