Yes we are all sad that he lost, but there are some positives to take here too.
Let's all cheer that Marat won a couple of games back-to-back and got to a 1/4 final at last. Also against Gonzo was always going to be tough as he's a fighter and really good on clay. Even so it was just one break of serve in first set and then after being broken in second he held it together, broke back and was only points away from forcing a tie-break.
I watched his press conference at Munich after his first match this week and was impressed with how calm and content he looked (and so young and dishy with the close shave - sorry this is supposed to be a serious post but I can't help dreaming!!) and how he came prepared to do qualies. Very mature!
Good luck in Rome with Wild Card Marat

thanks so much!! Marat's killer smiles are so priceless ...(drooling) And hope he not only enjoys what he is doing but also improves day by day, match by match, and tourny by tourny.

Just to say that I find it absolutely great that Younes El Aynaoui made it to the semi finals! The guy is 36 years of age and played mostly challengers and futures over the past couple of seasons; he played qualies in Munich so that makes his reaching the semis even more remarkable! Well done to the Moroccan! (Dina, you must be very proud of him, I guess )

Well done on getting to the quarters Big Yin. See, you've still got the desire. Is Rome next week? - I'm off work until Thursday - yahoo! From reading the comments, doesn't seem that he played too badly ie he didn't arse around. Good to see that he's fighting if he loses a first set. And I'm happy to see he won a tiebreak!
FG
PS Killer smiles? Garbo smiled? LMAO.
