Almagro is being flattened by Youzhny just now. 4-1 first set. Good. He cheated the Big Yin out of a match last year. Have no time for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Flatten him Youz.

Good old Misha did it. And the two other Russian boys I like (Dima and Igor) are in action today. At least the rest of the DC team are doing not too badly even if Marat hasn't quite got there yet!

Has anyone noticed from the day's schedule that if you are a fan of Russian tennis, all of the Russian men left in draw are one after another on Grandstand - how often in a tournament does that happen?

Miami twas mucho fun times! ;D Highlights: *no rain! (while I was there anyway) -- plenty of sun though (proud to say I only got a little burnt) *court-hopping (I sat maybe an hour total in my stadium seat -- so much more fun sitting way closer on the outer courts) *Bob-Mike / Rafa-Tommy doubles match ... oh wait, I DIDN'T get to see that because they put in on COURT 1, which was packed with people who sat there all day through the other matches, and the non-moving lines all around the court (why they didn't have this one of the grandstand or the stadium ...) – totally jealous of those 2000 people *Ancic-Murray match *can say I've gotten to see Guga in person before he retires by watching some of his practice on Sunday *met up with Giselle for a bit *said 'hi' to Bob & Mike ;D *Mom got Bob's autograph, as well as Misha's (she's braver than I) *got a smile in my direction from Erlich as he & Ram walked on court for the doubles *sitting in the front row for Erlich-Ram/Melo-Sa, Benneteau-Karlovic, Robredo-Sela, Igor-Malisse doubles *star struck and dumbfounded by all the players just walking around the grounds, to/from practice, lunch ... takes a few seconds to realize it's them, right there, in person, then I just watch them go on the merry way (definitely not fast enough with the camera) -- Dinara was the first one I saw walk on by, plus Bob, Mike, Tommy, Rafa, Kiefer, Misha, JCF, Malisse, Mark Knowles & son, plus umpires Carlos, Norm, Steve Player Pictures: Robredo, Karlovic, Davydenko, Gulbis, Ancic, Murray, Youzhny, Almagro, Clement, Ferrer, Gasquet, Dima, Querrey, Berdych, Andreev, Malisse, Moya, Erlich & Ram, Melo & Sa, Guga, Lopez, Bob, Rafa, Llodra, Benneteau, Mahut I put a few piccies in player threads, but the rest can be found here: sports.webshots.com/album/562960752HYWOFT

Thanks for the effort, Jen, the "short" version was entertaining as well! ;D The dust has settled after yesterday’s 4th round battles and the Men’s Quarterfinals are complete: Federer – Roddick Davydenko – Tipsarevic Berdych – Andreev Blake – NadalThe dark horse in this line-up surely is Tomas Berdych who has dominated his opponents in frightening fashion so far. Of course, he hasn’t played a real “big” name yet but I expect at least a semi-final clash against the other player who seems flawless in this tournament, Rafael Nadal. The top half is slightly more boring. Both Roddick and Davydenko are like deer staring in approaching car-headlights when it comes to Roger, so unless Tipsarevic can cause some huge upset, Fed will be waiting in the final. Most notable matches yesterday:Youzhny choking against Tipsarevic after winning the first set 63 06 36 Bambi losing against new serve&volley-expert Davydenko 64 36 57 (big for yet another great tournament run, Mario!) Andreev beating Canas in a very tight quality match 64 76 And an honorable mention to Acasuso who gave Federer a run for his money in the first set (and sadly fell flat in the second).
