Hi!
I just came back from Barcelona where I went to Open Seat. You all know the results So it was just not Marat’s tournament this time. But he looked very positive and I’m sure he’ll be OK! Marat really is in a great form, and he’s very interesting to watch
I’d like to share a few pics with you. These are from the second round of the doubles with Marat and Mitya.
That was a very entertaining match. In the first set they didn’t seem to care much about the game. They laughed a lot, they could start discussing something interesting (obviously) in the middle of the game, even between the first and second serves That was too funny And I don’t know how, but they made it to the tie-break. There were comparatively few people watching them, and the guys seemed to lose any interest in this match. And then I thought that no way I’m gonna let them lose that easy. I started cheering them even more. I was clapping with those sticks from the Davis Cup and screamed “MA-RAT! MEE-TYA!”.
I made so much noise
Some other people were also cheering them. Not sure whether it was our support or something else, but they got back into the game and started getting angry. Though they couldn’t hold the first set, they were completely different in the second.
Both Marat and Mitya showed amazing tennis. After each great shot they looked so happy and proud of themselves! You should have seen it! I’m still smiling when I recall it in my mind
And I think they were very pleased that the public also loved it. We supported them madly (at this time I was not the only one who was screaming “MA-RAT! MEE-TYA!”). So they won the second set.
And then came the decisive tie-break. They were so much ahead, but then made some mistakes and the match was lost. I had only one thought in my mind “Why?.. How could that happen?”
But anyway for me that was the most interesting match of the week. I wish them all the best, they are so great!
Hope you can see the pics
