DC Quarterfinal Moscow, April 2007

Our Admin told me to "dump" my first photos in here - she'll add a report later. So let me introduce you to Day 1 of the DC quarterfinal against France in Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow

FRIDAY

Annie will go into more detail, but Luzhniki sucked! Our expensive seats were less than ideal and they had no VIP area Plus, the place looked like some kid dumped out its legos - every second seat had a different color:

The French fan club was very organized and very loud:



Match No. 1 was Kolya vs. Mathieu. Sorry, but I didn't take very many photos of either player:

Due to my soft spot for Gasquet, I can offer you more from match No. 2, Misha vs. Richard. I think most people (including myself) expected Kolya and Richard to win their respective matches. So we were in for two big surprises.







The cramps began and made the match very painful to watch. Nobody believed that Misha could pull off a victory, but Richard seemed paralyzed by the events on the other side of the net and didn't use Misha's misery to his advantage






Marat was only a spectator but it was fun to watch him. Most of the time he was ignoring the matches, joking around with Sasha and his fellow "benchies"














But sometimes he seemed to fall into a trance and was in his very own happy (or dark?) place:




I didn't put watermarks on the photos since I suppose it's understood anyway that you ask me for permission before posting them anywhere else

SATURDAY

Saturday started with a huge disappointment. We came into the stadium, looked at the scoreboard - and saw the name "Davydenko"! NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Stupid blisters... France didn't seem to have nominated its strongest team Clement/Llodra, but Grosjean/Llodra sounded scary enough. I kinda saw France in the 2-1 lead but Kolya and Igor... okay, Annie's job, I'll shut up

I got carried away by a clean-shaven, smiling Marat, so here are some shots of him








Russian DC dress code - no joke, the majority of women looked as if they were about to go clubbing (or worse... )
