jheya sydney! welcome to the board!!!!!!! marat a rap star... oh this i've gotta see. who's he taking lessons from? leonid? lets hope he raps better than he sings then...right ruth? You guys are hilarious!!! [insert lots of laughing smilies from smileycentral.com that I can't be bothered finding here] I'm still giggling as I write this ;D So, in answer to your question, this is how the story goes.... Leonid was in the studio, recording some stuff for one of the Dynamit albums. Marat decided to sit in with him for a few days (they seem to go through phases of being absolutely inseperable...) Anyway, I have it on good authority that Leonid can rap really well (it's long story as to how he learnt this...) and I guess he was doing some rap in the studio, and was teaching Marat how to do it. One of the producers was listening and said Marat's deep voice was perfect for rap. Leonid & co then started teasing Marat, saying he should leave tennis (he was injured at the time!) and become a rapstar instead - more money, better clothes and more time to meet women...the usual benefits Somehow, this story then got mutated into 'Marat retires from tennis to be next Eminem' I'll try and dig out some of the original article links (In Russian) so we can have a laugh ;D

Marat on MTV instead of Eurosport. Imagine Marat doing a thank you speech for a won award!!!!! There would be some hilarious quotes in that.

I found this article which I've babelfish-ed. It's only short, but gives you a rough idea ;D When they sent this rumor: 2003-08-14 17:50:42 | its Prislal(a): Rumor of such: Tennis-player Marat Safin in earnest thinks about the quarry of rap- singer. So extravagant an idea to the knight of ball and racket tossed up his black friend, who travelled about 0 0N throughout the world, and now that returning to Russia, in order to become here popular artist. Thus far the work Of safina in show- Bizet limited only to the surveys of clip for the friend, in whom the sex- symbol from the sport plays one of the roles. However, according to the tennis-player, his former classmate being lazy Nerushenko (now the soloist of command "dynamite") it already proposed to Marat the professional aid of Yuri ayzenshpis.www.slyhi.ru/slyhi.htm?bz_id=4327

OK, before you all start screaming, I tried to brush up the babelfish translation. Pardon my English but I hope it's at least a tad better than babelfish! ;D BTW, dunno who is meant by the dark-skinned (black) friend, Leo or someone else who was in the studio. Such a rumour: Tennis-player Marat Safin is seriously thinking about the career as a rap- singer. This extravagant idea was suggested to him by his dark-skinned friend, who had travelled around in the world and now returned to Russia in order to become a popular artist here. So far the work of Safin in show-business is limited only to taking part in shooting of a video of his friend, where the sporting sex- symbol plays one of the roles. However, according to the tennis-player, his former classmate Leonid Nerushenko (now the soloist of a bad "Dynamit") already offered the professional help of a producer Yuri Ayzenshpis to him.

BTW, dunno who is meant by the dark-skinned (black) friend, Leo or someone else who was in the studio. Ah, no..... wow..! Suddenly that makes sense (I think). The black guy could be that Russian rapper, Deema. (Some of you may remember, Marat & Leo were supposed to be in his video, but it was almost impossible to spot them ) I don't think blonde-blue-eyed-Leo could be mistaken for a black guy

I think kinda everyone can distinguise a Leonid from a black guy.... btw..Thanks for translation Maria.. didnt understand one single tiny bit from the babbelfishthingy... ;)Caroline

Welcome Sydney. LOL! You girls crack me up. I know more than a few musicians, some superstars , and believe me Marat would not last a world tour if he can't stick Wimbledon. You can't just decide you are not going to work today with the music industry the way Marat does occassionally with tennis. Your career will be in the toilet with your record label faster than you can say 'yesterday's news', let alone the huge $$$ it costs to cancel one show. I

Ok, you're asking for it: Who are they? ;D Is it Madonna? If so, please ask her to get me better seats for her concert next week!

LOL! Oh, Hell no! I wouldn't do Madonna's cyber security for anything. The blokes I work with are bad enough for ego trip and security breaches! My specialty is security - bailing out musicians who think they know the internet and end up getting cyber stalked by some pretty scary fans, so apart from saying I kick their backsides HARD when they get into trouble, I'm not really allowed to talk about it. Definitely no names, no pack drills, only I did a favour for a friend back in 1999 on her fan site and ended up, by 2004, knowing a heap of world class, and in a couple of cases some of the best in their field, musicians and am still not quite sure how I got here!

Ok, I get it. Pretty responsible job then! And fun, if they are good and nice musicians... Though it's no fun you can't mention any names ;D
