Annie, I've just discovered your picture of the baby hedgehogs, aren't they adorable? They remind me of horse chestnuts when you find them in their cases, but they're pink instead of brown. We found a hedgehog in our garden once, it had got itself trapped in some football netting and had to be disentangled by the vet under a general anaesthetic. They didn't charge us, thank goodness.

Trish's photo of the river valley in Tasmania reminds me of a gorge that i walked down in Crete. It was the first trip of the season and the mountain snows were still melting so we had to sign a form for the coach company to indemnify them in case we hurt ourselves whilst walking down the valley. the water was pale blue in colour and icy icy cold. I know this because we had to wade through the river in several places and in one spot we had to walk along the river bed in between river cliffs. There was one stretch where the valley floor widened out and you could see full-grown pine trees uprooted and snapped across enormous boulders like match sticks. I tried to take a picture but the scene was just too big, I just had too remember it.
