You´re right, love 15. But, I think there´s a difference between driving reckless and driving like you´re not an obstacle for everybody who wants to be at home before New year;)

oh. i am really sad and i can't sleep. my pony was a few weeks overdue for her foal but she has foaled so well in the past i wasn't worried. she had her foal this morning but it all went very wrong. it took us five hours of trying to pull it out and by that time it was dead and we almost lost my dear baby pippy as well. the vet said that she may have been having small contractions the last few weeks but as she couldn't get the baby out her body kinda gave up. we ended up having to sedate her and put her in the float, drive an hour to the good (and open) vet clinc and doing a caesarian. i'm still worried about her.
i feel awful. i didn't call the vet the last few weeks cos i just thought that she was holding on cos it was windy, i didn't think about complications. the baby wouldn't have lived anyway, even if it was born quickly, it's knee was fused together...but i feel awful that i put my darling pippy through that... we put the foal in her stable so that when she woke she would know that her baby was dead and her body would stop producing milk...but she was so depressed. she won't eat and she won't stop licking it... that's what is on my mind and why i can't sleep... maybe i could have prevented it if i had thought a little more...

mackie sweetie don't blame yourself...you couldn't have known that and after all I always say that whatever is bound to happen will happen anyway...sweetie you hang in there and be strong...pippy needs you right now and you should be holding up...
There is no point in blaming yourself..especially when it's not your fault

I agree with Annie, it´s not your fault, you´re not a doctor. Don´t blame yourself, these things happen, as sad as it is, but we cannot do anything. But your pony needs you now. You can take care of it now, and hopefully it will feel better soon. Best wishes from here

I tried to avoid driving, whenever I could, and I think I was a very slow driver there Luckily my father taught me how to drive a bit, before I had my first lesson in driving school. And luckily I had a very nice and laid-back teacher. He had a great sense of humour, and never freaked out, while I was driving.

thanks Annie and blue. i know it really isn't my fault, one of those things...but when you can't sleep and you have been up since 12 the morning before you can convince yourself of things...and i was pretty depressed. but there was some good news today. the vet told us that some other clients of hers have a shetland pony that rejected its foal. its an older first time mother and didn't like the whole thing at all. so they have been hand rearing it for a few weeks. we are going to try and get my pony to adopt it. hopefully she will cheer up a little and eat something. now all we have to do is fool her that it is her foal. she won't be allowed to come home for a few weeks still but if she has a baby she might be a bit happier!
