I lived in New Delhi with my parents between 1986 and 1992 for 6 years ;D My parents worked for the Soviet Embassy there. We travelled a lot while there: Jaipur, Agra, Goa, Mumbai (Bombay then), up to the Himalayas and loads of other places..I LOVE IT!!!

That mean you have had to undergo the radical change in east-europe and in the USSR from there... How was that ?

Oh lena...it was very interesting and disturbing at the same time. I remember coming home from a walk with my friends in August 1991 and putting on the TV and there was ballet everywhere, both Russian channels were showing "The Swan Lake" and then my Dad got home and he was really nervous and told me what was happening in Moscow...we were very worried for our relatives back there and kept phoning every day. Then a couple of days later we were woken up by a telephone call at 3am and my Dad was called into the office by the Ambassador. He came back 2 hours later and said they had changed the flag outside the Embassy I think in a way I was lucky to be so far away from it all but it was a huge shock to come back from India in 1992 to a country with adverts in English, a McDonald's on the centre street of Moscow and all other weird things I was a bit too shocked a first I think..we all were

From today all that sounds very strange. At the moment it had probably already been very serious. But everything turn to a good account I can't really imagine not to be there at the days and month before for that changes happend here

Ah Annie those must have been roller coaster days. That change must have been huge...ah man I hate sudden changes....
And I just hope you visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar in those days...because that is exactly where I live.

Ah ..I see. You're always welcome to visit this mystic country. Jewell,in fact, Bangladesh is surrounded by Indian mainland from three sides. Bangladesh was indeed a part of India, and in 1971, it was separated as East Pakistan. By the way do you happen to be a Muslim? In that case or even otherwise wishing you a HAPPY EID ! Joy
