Okay, I’m extremely bored today
, so let’s do some math.
The Masters Events are coming up and while there’s a 96-player-field in Indian Wells and Miami, the European tournaments are much smaller, with only 56 players competing. The official cut is at ranking no. 44, which means in order to directly get in (without being dependent on players withdrawing) Mr. Safin needs to climb 20 ranking spots as of today (which equals more or less 200 points). On top of that, he needs to do it to certain deadlines:
By March 10th for Monte Carlo, i.e. after Memphis and Las Vegas
By March 24th for Rome, i.e. after Memphis, Las Vegas and Indian Wells
By March 31st for Hamburg, i.e. after Memphis, Las Vegas, Indian Wells, and Miami (I hope; it seems rather during Miami?)
Sadly, he can’t just gain points; he can also lose points, notably in Las Vegas where 75 points for a semi final are at stake. So: Ideally we need a win in Memphis, a final in Las Vegas and a Quarterfinal in Miami or Indian Wells
. Am I too pushy here, lol ;D?
Good luck Marat – please make it to Hamburg, it seems the whole tgfr board will be waiting for you there
And I would be embarrassed if I couldn't offer my guests Hamburg's main attraction, lmao
