www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...-27258,00.html Marat hits the nightlifeMARAT Safin did not waste any time after losing to Roger Federer on Friday night, heading straight to Southbank nightclub Eve with a mystery glamour girl. He finished his match late, but that did not mean Safin wanted to go to bed. Nightclub sources said he arrived at Eve after midnight and eventually left with the mystery woman - and it was clear they were more than friends. After losing to Federer, Safin hinted he would not return to Melbourne Park as a player, so perhaps he was drowning his sorrows or celebrating what has been an eventful tennis career. "I doubt it. I really doubt it," he said when asked if he would be back in Melbourne next year. "I don't like this bye-bye part. It's just a sad story. It's not for me. I prefer to leave this way - quietly, nice, with a great match." Over the years, Safin has been famous for the pretty entourage that follows him around. And this year appears no different. Safin's sister, Dinara Safina, is the opposite. She said during the week that all she wanted to do after her tennis was over was head back to the hotel room and stay there. "I don't like to bother him, you know, to go for dinner," she said. "He has his company. I have my company. You know, once the tournament finish, yeah, we can go all together. "But he goes later than me for dinner. I go earlier. He has his life. I have my life." Also at Eve nightclub was Safin's old on-court sparring partner, Mark Philippoussis. Philippoussis will host a players' party at Eve tonight, with all money going to charity Challenge.

At least he is enjoying himself ;D in what may be last trip to Melbourne From the Herald Sun today Do not disturb Russian ace Marat Safin has been making plenty of new female friends during what is shaping as his last visit to the Australian Open. Retired Aussie great Mark Woodforde let slip at the Optus Legends cocktail party that it has been an interesting experience having a hotel room next to Safin's during this year's Open. He told the room that Safin "was working hard both on and off the court". He revealed each night when he returned to his room he would try to be quiet because, judging by the noises emanating from Safin's suite, the big Russian did not want to be disturbed.

Do you think he would need a farewell tour to 'thank' whomever he wants? I bet he doesnt need excuses to do whatever he wants to do, when he wants to do it. What surprises me is why is it news worthy

Marat is such a stud! And yes, I would apply to help him pass his time in the states any time! By the way, I wonder if he might stay in Melbourne as long as Dinara is still in the tourney... Celebrate his b-day, too!

Hey, am I the only one here dumb enough to say that I'd settle for a ticket on a Wimbles show-court as part of his farewell tour? LMAO.
I'd buy the video and T-shirt though ... LMAO.
Think we're all veering into no-go territory now ...

Here's a note from the OS: "At this stage there are no upcoming tournaments booked for Marat apart from Davis Cup in Romania from 6-8 March. As soon as any information is received it will be posted here."
