Hi Marti - what you mean is that he hasn't had a formal education. , not 'he's not educated'. He probably will take up formal studies when he retires, but I wouldn't decry the value of books in this instance. If anyone wants to expand their mind, a book is the best starting point. Only Marat will know what he gets out of his reading material. I'm glad he's reading heavyweight literature as opposed to a copy of Playboy (for the articles of course ... that old mantra). LMAO. ;D

I don't agree. He's not a boy. He just a man having mid-age crisis earlier that usual. LMAO. That explains it. But he's done the reverse and got rid of the gold chains. LMAO.

I apologize for providing such critics for Marat in a place that suppports him. I think he is just a boy, he needs to grow up!...and NO, just because he's worked all his life and won plenty of money, DOES NOT make him a grown up! Oh well, I am done here! ;D I don't agree. He's not a boy. He just a man having mid-age crisis earlier that usual. Actually, I agree with you! Early mid-age crisis = puberty in replay

He said that in a previous interview. And I also read somehwere that he took the exam that gives access to university in Russia. He only didn't take any university degree for obvious reasons.

What can you say to someone who has 2 Bachelor of Arts degrees and 2 Masters degrees when, after you ask them to cut up an onion, they say 'How do I cut up an onion?' LMAO. I thought they were kiddin'.
I agree totally that the 'formal education' doesn't always lend itself to common-sense either. ;D

yep! it is right! Marat went to school in Spain and to university, but I honestly have no clue about what he studied! and may I point out that almost 95% of the current players on the tour didn't get to university(the major part of them didn't even finish high school) and the only guys I know did go to university are Marat and James Blake who was a Harvard student! by the way, personnally I think that Marat and the most of the guys on Tour are pretty smart, sophisticated and have lots of different and interesting ideas and opinions even though they won't win a Nobel Prize tomorrow in Calculus or wahtever! and concerning the books: of course reading is very, very important! people who are used to read are the ones with the most general knowledge, they read the world and understand it through some lines! Books are the most priceless wealth of the humanity's history! and I've always considered Marat as a very smart man, really! he observes and judges positively the world around him I'm sure when he'll retire he'll be a fierce businessman! lol!

I think there's no doubt about whether he read those books he said he did - it's so obvious that they shaped his mind in a way.. I just love the way he thinks and looks at the world around him Thats why I'll always be his fan, no matter how badly he plays or how much hair he grows ;D

One can have all the education in the world, but some are not able to apply it in life. At the end of the day attaining a degree is only a piece of paper, and may not be even help you when you do go into the workforce as in reality the way the world works is completeley different on what you have learn in classrooms!

Books are definitely the fountain of knowledge. It can definitely expand your way of thinking of the world.
You are right of course, Marat is a very intelligent man and it really channels through his interviews and articles. Most his responses are very thought through and not shallow at all unlike some other people.

books won't necessarily help him for business, but his good instincts and clever way of observing around with an outside position then judge, that will definitely help him! and for sure the studies he did were in purpose to help him after he retires!

Well If I liked him before now I love him! Garcia Marquez not only is my favorite but we were born in the same area, the coast of colombia, so when people read and imagine this things I only remember them. If he likes the book as everybody does he should watch a new movie coming out in November by another of Gabo's books, "love in the time of cholera" it was filmed in Cartegena, Colombia (anybody wants a tour just let me know), which is interesting as well because the idea of the movie is " how long will u wait for love" in Safin's gf will be marriage I guess. As I think of it, it doesn't matter if you are married or not to somebody to love them as long as you are with them and be together, marriage is just a paper I don't see why people ask so much about it and question his views about it as well.
Thanks for posting the itvw.
