dreamajreed your post has been moved into a corresponding thread in Marat Safin forum dreamajreed dear, this is strictly for tennis...heart attacks over his love life occur elsewhere or, even better, in a respectous silence! LMAO While I hope you don't mind the moving away (forum policies ), I also hope that you are simply Marat Safin undercover, clearing things up alittle for his girls! And as a present from me to you, here's a little song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qcOKi5SzFY&feature=related

Unbelievable behaviour and Tennis from Marat in the last set.
Why is it in a tournament he cant play for 3 sets except at a Grand Slam. Played well in 1st set, played okay in 2nd set and because of that he throws a wobbly - idiocracy.
US Open and America can say goodbye to Marat!

he got fined twice yesterday. For racket violation and for ball violation The more I hear the happier I am for turning the stream off after set 2. Watching Andy Murray instead was way more fun - Marat's match was straight-out boring and uninspired. He could've easily won it, though, that's the real irony. Idiot (I think he needs to hear that every once in a while..).

Hate to hear that he was screaming that he wanted to get out! Was that in Russian Annie? I, too, thought he would win after the 1st set. He wasn't playing his absolute best but was still pretty solid. So sad for things to be ending up like this for him.. Wonder if he will go to NY now? I know he is playing an exho in Asheville but I can' t really imagine him spending 2 weeks there. PS. Justsafin I forgot to say thank you for letting us post your pictures on MTF so THANK YOU! Everyone over there was drooling, too!

He screamed he wanted to get out? Hahaha! There goes the image of the fierce tatar of the steppe!
I'm sorry I find it funny, for him it must be pretty sad, but c'mon!
Tennis-goers don't even really care about his tennis anymore, his prime was fabulous, he's already established as one of the 2 greatest talent of the decade (century, era, whatever), everybody admits he had bad luck, got injured, people understood that...it's the vibrant personality that people love about him and this is the reason they still go see him play! With no expectations at all! That should really help him enjoy the farewell tour, how many other athletes were as loved as he was, after all?
But him, what does he do? He tortures himself with solid Russian application and he walks around saying "I just wanna enjoy!" Bitch, please! You don't, you just can't give up! Everybody's ok with that, but at least behave like an adult! And although this processus is most of the times painful to see (and here he has all my simpathy), sometimes is just ridiculous: like last night!
His mother should slap him and ground him for like a week for this!

We all just want to see him on court, hear his interviews, etc. Of course we want him to win but nobody really expects anything great from him now.. Alas, the mind of a Safin......

I know I'm right, Adout...he most surely knows it to!!! May God have mercy of his soul, cause my today's gigantic nervosity (rather stupidly ) focused on him and I kept cursing him all day long, like I at least knew him or something! Ridiculous at my age! More like class fight... And like I wasn't pissed enough about a number of things, I have just come across a dreadfully depressing song that pictures quite well the Safin saga above!!!! Here it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=COLbULs08EQ

My silence would no doubt have been deafening, my Big Pixie. And you do not need to ask why. We've been there before, and you know my thoughts ... can I just say though, I'm disappointed to have to revisit those thoughts though ... yet again. (You know I wouldn't keep my mouth shut on this one ...) I expect more. As do you - well, I would still hope so anyway, but there was nothing in that match to reflect that. Tanking ain't in my vocabulary, in any walk of life ... and it shouldn't be in yours either. Some of us don't have the dubious luxury of the choice of qutting when the going gets tough. The day will come when you don't get that choice either - and it probably won't be about tennis. Life's too short. So, if New York is to be the last GS, can you give it your all - even if it ain't going your way? If you don't at least try, you're gonna have one really, really pissed off Fairy Godmother on your hands. Get a grip. Do you want to look back and start thinking about how if you had tried, things might have been different? Ok, you can say that about most things in life, but when you deliberately throw in the towel like that, it ain't pretty. And frankly, it's disrespectful to your fans. By that, I don't just mean the anonymous faces in the crowd - what about Amit, Dinara, Aunty Denise ... shish. Get a grip, you ain't a stupid guy, so stop acting like one. And relax .... (that was for me, not you ...). Jeez, it's been one hell of a crap week all round, and you didn't help the mood. Think I need to go roll in my chicken manure again ... ;D Disgruntled FG

Everyone over there was drooling, too! You are welcome! Oh, ya, now I remember he has an exho to play with Agassi. Maybe that's the reason why he didn't stay one or two days longer than he usually did during the last 3 years. I have been lazy all day. Haven't worked on the pics of the 2nd round yet. ps I agree with all the comments about the way he plays or whatever. But, that's him. He is still adorable and friendly when he meets fans in person. Some chatting with fans while signing autographs is just simply hilarious. This guy is really NOT a typical tennis player for sure.

Think I need to go roll in my chicken manure again ... ;D Disgruntled FG maryb...i feel the same way...You are the most enthusiastic person in here and yet you feel this way...What can Marat not do? Who can he not disappoint when the most ardoring fans (which I think is you and Annie btw) are even feeling this agony!~ And the locking of the forum reflects every fan's feelings... I feel so, let down, all my hopes are flying away one by one... Does Marat know that we're not there for him until the end, because he has been consumed by his own self? And somehow we are too? He does not want this to turn out this way too, right? But it's what he's saying is certainly putting off people who love him. 'I hate tennis, I hate any sport, I want to get out of here already'... and all that uninspired tennis... If he doesn't give it all in New York, what then? What is the purpose of the 23 years' journey of tennis when you can't put a circle to it, and end it how it started in 2000! Kick some ass! You have to prove them you are someone who matters! And those years aren't just a waste of time, you know you love tennis - don't think about your life after tennis! After all you are the one who keeps telling us to 'live in the moment'. You're not retiring yet, aren't you, not until the Bercy, right? So don't play like you're semi-retired...You won't be focused if you keep on thinking ahead. You will say it's just tennis. It's your life. It's a representation of life itself too. You win some, you lose all the time. You have people supporting you all the way. It comes easy, it comes hard. You have to be strong now, like you were always were. But the last thing to ever do is to give up on life. It's the most degrading, because you didn't even put up a fight. Tanking, we know one when we see one. Make it look like it's the last thing that can keep you alive, Marat. People have stuck with you even if it has made us crazy. Your parents, more. And your sister, who looks up to you, who feels more pain than you do...think about them. Think about yourself. You know you won't be proud of this once it has already ended. Come on, Marat Mikhailovich. But heck, can he even read this s***. Someone in his management, print this and translate! *sigh* I just hope God whispers to you that you will regret not trying and vying for the best there is. We've had very wonderful memories of you... very fond ones... masha... he won't be spanked, his mother knows too well that things like this come in handy for the future...lessons in life the hard way...but! We don't want to end a very beautiful, poetic life in tennis, do we? I want a fairytale with a fairy Godmother! USO FTW! Let's have a bet. If Marat gets to quarterfinals, shut down this place after Bercy. Pleaseeee.....He'll get there. I hope he gets good seeding too... Question, who's watching him live at NY?

Here I go breaking my own rules and getting off topic in the tournament thread. Shutting down of this place is not a matter of him doing or not doing well during USO. Running a forum might sound and look easy but it certainly isn't. And it certainly is much more difficult when you do it on your own. I really appreciate all the help people have been providing throughout the years (Annette, Ily, Lau ) but we are all human beings with a lot happening in our lives and it's time for me to step down and live my life, this can no longer be a part of it. I have too much stuff happening right now and I have no time and no strength to run this place anymore. More than that, there is noone around at this point in time whom I can trust with running this place until the end of the season and who is volunteering to do so, no offense to many of you. This place used to be grand. I met so many people who became friends, with whom we met in real life and went to tournaments and travelled to visit each other, it has been a fantastic ride. But it's no longer the same...and I am afraid it never will be. Probably it's the lack of results from Marat or it's the fact that noone expects anything from him anymore, but I see no point in keeping this place up and running just for the sake of keeping it up and running. It's time to let it go...USO is the grand slam that made him mega famous once upon a time...I think it will be appropriate to stop this right there and then. I have been a Marat fan for 9 years and seeing him go definitely makes me very sad. Seeing him go the way he is going, makes me double sad. But this is life...I wept when Pete left and I still miss him. I will definitely shed a tear or two when Marat plays his last match at Bercy but it was inevitable at some point in time. So let's just take a deep breath and accept the fact that this is Marat's last season and TGFR will be closed in 3 weeks. I will be going to Kremlin Cup with some of my dear tennis friends, whom I met through Marat fandom ;D , so I will have a chance to say my goodbyes in person Ok, rant over. If anyone wants to comment on this, please go to "TGFR to shut down after US Open" thread LOL
