Gotta love it ... Q. Through all the success this summer, what has been your happiest day? Has it been a match or has it been going shopping? DINARA SAFINA: Happiest day? Every day is a happy day. Why it has to be? Doesn't matter. When you wake up it's already happy. ;D Q. Marat obviously won his first Grand Slam here at the Open. How much would it mean to make it your first one, too? DINARA SAFINA: I already answered this 100 times. It will be the dream come true. Ladies QFs are set: Pennetta - Safina Venus - Serena Dementieva - Schynder Bammer - JankovicSoares & Vemic just beat Igor K & Dima -- 76(11-9) 67(7-9) 76(7-3) -- it's exhausting just looking at that score

Okay, it's taking me forever to get my photos downloaded somewhere (still tired from my extended stay at the Open.) I have so much to catch up on since I was away for a week. So, for now...just one picture.....I never did get used to taking pictures, it was better to just look at him. I know for sure I am not the best person to handle a camera, but I think ones like this one came out okay. P.S. Marat was very frustrated (lot's of racquet throwing,) on Monday, and on Wednesday (?) just seemed to not be interested. Gumy remains so quiet with him. More later.......

DAY 8 RESULTS: Mardy Fish (USA) d Gael Monfils (FRA)[32] 75 62 62 Rafael Nadal (ESP)[1] d Sam Querrey (USA) 62 57 76 63 Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG)[17] d Kei Nishikori (JPN) 63 64 63 Andy Murray (GBR)[6] d Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI)[10] 61 63 63 Dinara Safina (RUS)[6] d Anna-Lena Groenefeld (GER) 75 60 ;D Flavia Pennetta (ITA)[16] d Amelie Mauresmo (FRA)[32] 63 60 Venus Williams (USA)[7] d Agnieszka Radwanska (POL)[9] 61 63 Serena Williams (USA)[4] d Severine Bremond (FRA) 62 62 Seems every one advanced quite easily. Wow, Fish! and JMDP continues his winning streak. Amelie got bageled by Flavia.......what happened to Amelie? Andy was like sweeping 8-)and bummer to Stan. By looking the scores, can't believe it's between 8th seed and 10th seed...... DAVAI and CONGATS, DINARA!!!!!

yeeeeeeeaaahh Mardy! gotta give props to Sam for pushing Rafa to 4 sets bravo to Andy & JMDP on their respective beatdowns ... Andy v JMDP should provide some fireworks ... and good match-ups on the schedule tomorrow ;D Doubles Update: Jarkko played doubles today - he and Lindstedt beat #1 seeds Nestor & Zimonjic - glad his arm is seemingly okay ... doubles seeds have dropped like flies except Dlouhy-Paes and the Bryans -- it's totally Mike & Bob's tourney to win and another quotable quote: Q. Do you feel fully recovered from the travel from Beijing? RAFAEL NADAL: Well, if I don't feel recovered after two weeks, we have a big problem, no? ;D

Oh, I am used to the racquet throwing. Last year he was calmer...it was Dimitry who was the one going balistic, then. I just think something was eating him during his first round of practice on Monday. Later in the day, he was hitting quite well with Gumy, but seemed a little disinterested. And no, no autograph. Not that there was lack of opportunity...quite the opposite. I never ask anyone for autographs. I can't even begin to count how many celeb's, etc., over my lifetime, in which I could have had an autograph, but have not asked. I just don't like it. It's just a "thing" of mine. I actually felt 'odd' taking pictures of Marat. I felt like I was invading his personal space. That's just me though.

www.google.com.tw/reader/view/feed/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tennis-x.com%2Ftennisxnews.xmlSeptember 1st, 2008 Weepy Safina, Nadal Move On at US Open by Richard Vach Querrey Tests Nadal, Fish Jumps Monfils at US Open Two Americans made their mark Monday at the US Open, one in a win and the other in a loss. Mardy Fish advanced to his first US Open quarterfinal with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 win over Gael Monfils. Fish played an efficient, attacking game against the Frenchman, who helped the American by tanking through portions of the match, frustrated over an apparent knee injury. Sam Querrey exited the US Open Monday, but not before putting a scare into world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-3 win for the Spaniard. “Very tough,” Nadal said of the No. 55-ranked 20-year-old Querrey. “Sam is a big player, a big server. He has a great future.” Fish will next face the world No. 1 Nadal. “I feel like a guy with my style of play is someone that he doesn’t want to see,” Fish said of Nadal. “You got to be able to finish points quickly. He’s going to last longer than anybody. He wants to keep the points as long as possible and run the guys down, kind of body blow after body blow…I don’t intend to let him do that. I’m going to come in and I’m going to not necessarily [play] a Kamikaze-type tennis, but I’m going to try to keep the points as short as possible.” Advancing in the featured night match was Scot Andy Murray, whose pinpoint accuracy was too much for Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. “I’ve played really well all summer,” Murray said. “It’s been a good summer and hopefully I can continue in the next round.” Matches to look for Tuesday are (15) Tommy Robredo vs. (3) Novak Djokovic, (23) Igor Andreev vs. (2) Roger Federer, and (8) Andy Roddick vs. (11) Fernando Gonzalez. Williams, Safina Into Quarters at US Open The Williams sisters led the way into the quarterfinals Monday at the US Open, with No. 4 Serena Williams easing past France’s Severine Bremond 6-1, 6-2, and No. 7 Venus Williams strolling by No. 9 Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 6-3. The sisters will meet in the quarters. “We have to meet in the quarters but this would be a huge milestone for me to win this championship,” Venus said. “That’s how I see it, as trying to win the tournament.” Also into the quarters were No. 6 seed Dinara Safina who eventually overwhelmed Anna-Lena Groenefeld 7-5, 6-0, and No. 16 Flavia Pennetta who did likewise to the service-yipping No. 32 seed Amelie Maursemo 6-3, 6-0. “She make a lot of mistake today,” said Pennetta, who will appear in her first Grand Slam quarterfinal. “So for sure she doesn’t play her best match or best tennis. Anyway, I think I was very focused on my game, and that’s why I won.” Mauresmo had 14 double faults in the match. Safina said she was so exhausted, she started crying during her morning warm-up hit.
“After the warm-up I just started to cry,” Safina said. “I said, ‘I cannot push anymore myself.’ He said, ‘We know that you’re not a machine. Just go out there and don’t thinking.’ He told me again, ‘Just please don’t show me any emotions, like these negative emotions. If you want, don’t show even positive. Just go on the court and do whatever you can this day.’…I could not stop from crying, yeah. So I guess he knows how to handle my emotions.”Matches to look for Tuesday are (5) Elena Dementieva vs. (15) Patty Schnyder, and (29) Sybille Bammer vs. (2) Jelena Jankovic.

Likely to be a bit of a needle match. Wasn't it Del Potro Andy had the fight with when he made a comment about Mama Murray?
Tommy could possibly be heading to a 5 setter with Noely Boy.

What a contest for Tommy and Noely! I was exhausted just watching them. Was disappointed that Tommy didn't win in the end - he fought back so well.
Well done to Noely boy though. His wee legs will be hurting like hell tomorrow morning.
