The 16 Qualifiers have been determined: Yeu-Tzuoo Wang (TPE) Nicolas Mahut (FRA) Edouard Roger-vasselin (FRA) Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (PAK) Bobby Reynolds (USA) Bohdan Ulihrach (CZE) Sam Warburg (USA) Zack Fleishman (USA) Lee Childs (GBR) Alejandro Falla (COL) Gilles Muller (LUX) Rik De voest (RSA) Wayne Arthurs (AUS) Mischa Zverev (GER) ;D Tomas Zib (CZE) Fernando Vicente (ESP) Ancic , Li withdraw from Wimbledon
WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -Mario Ancic withdrew from Wimbledon on Thursday because of a continuing illness, and Li Na pulled out with a rib injury. Ancic, who was seeded 18th, reached the semifinals at the All England Club in 2004. He has been sidelined for months with mononucleosis, and also pulled out of the French Open last month. The Croatian probably is best known as the last player to beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon, upsetting the Swiss in the first round in 2002. Ancic will be replaced by Frank Dancevic of Canada. Li, also seeded 18th, became the first Chinese player to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event at last year's Wimbledon. She will be replaced by Alize Cornet of France.

Murray has been hitting well at Roehampton for about 10 days now. The Camp are upbeat that he will be able to compete at Wimby, however he has a habit of returning to competitive matches before injuries are fully healed and damaging himself further! Ancic to miss WimbledonWimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Croat Mario Ancic withdrew from Wimbledon 2007 on Thursday, citing a continuing illness. Ancic, who was slated as the 18th seed at the fortnight, has been sidelined for months with mononucleosis and also missed the recently-concluded French Open. The 6-foot-5 Ancic was the last man to beat Roger Federer at the All England Club, which he did with a first-round victory back in 2002. The tall Croat reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2004 and was a quarterfinalist here last season. link

A possible third round match against Federer. That sounds very interesting. ;D It only happens if Marat wins the first rounds and with Marat you never know.

From www.wimbledon.orgMen's Singles Preview Friday, 22 June, 2007Roger Federer's task of trying to win five Wimbledon titles in succession begins on the Centre Court on Monday, when he takes on the Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili. It may look a less than demanding start for Federer because the 22-year-old Gabashvili is raw in Grand Slam experience. Gabashvili will be making his debut in The Championships and although he did play in the French Open last month, he had to retire in his first round match against Flavio Cipolla of Italy. Federer will be the first leading player to experience the Centre Court at Wimbledon minus its roof and can look ahead to a demanding test of his skills as Wimbledon progresses. Marat Safin, the former US and Australian Open champion whose best Wimbledon was in 2001 when he was a quarter-finalist, should be Federer's third round opponent. Tommy Haas of Germany, seeded tenth, is likely to be in line for the fourth round followed by fifth seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in the quarter-finals. Third seed Andy Roddick, who has lost in two Championship finals to Federer, begins against fellow American Justin Gimelstob and has the British No.1 Andy Murray, seeded eighth, in his half of the draw. Murray - who has still to decide whether he will be able to compete because of wrist injury - beat Roddick at Wimbledon last year. Should they meet this year, it would be at the quarter-final stage. Second seed Rafael Nadal, who won his third successive French Open title earlier this month, begins his challenge against the world no. 36 Mardy Fish of the USA, who has twice been in the third round at Wimbledon. Fellow Spaniard, Tommy Robredo should be Nadal's fourth round opponent but it is the seventh seeded Czech Tomas Berdych, in his fourth Wimbledon, who could present problems to Nadal in the quarter-finals. Berdych, 21, had his best Wimbledon last year with a place in the fourth round where he was beaten by Federer. Serbia's Novak Djokovic, in his highest seeded place, fourth, is in line to play Nadal at the semi-final stage having been beaten by the Spaniard at the same stage of the French Open. Djokovic has the prospect of the heavy serving Croat Ivo Karlovic in the third round. Lleyton Hewitt, winner in 2002 and the only other champion in the draw apart from Federer, is seeded sixteenth and is in the same half of the draw as Nadal. Hewitt opens against the British wildcard entry Richard Bloomfield. Andy Murray is scheduled to begin against Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador who is playing at Wimbledon for the eighth time. For British fans there is an intriguing prospect of a third round match between Murray and Tim Henman, the former British No 1 who has played in four semi-finals at Wimbledon. Henman opens with a difficult match against Spain's 25th seeded Carlos Moya, a former French champion, who has beaten him five times in nine matches. But this will be their first meeting on grass.

Oh, that's a fun draw! ;D ;D Will adjust my "Fantasy Team" accordingly (i.e. kick Marat out ). I'd love to see Safin - Federer but if Marat gets his Hamburg mood and decides he doesn't even want to compete with The Fed, then who knows... Great first-round line-ups: Andreev - Blake Tursunov - Almagro (kick ass, Mitya!) Ginepri - Gonzalez Clement - Mahut Moya - Henman Monfils - Johansson Cilic - Simon Fish - Nadal Nalbandian - Zverev Kolya will have the "honor" to be eliminated by a fellow Russian (i.e. Korolev)

many interesting match-ups indeed, very intriguing ... i can't wait for monday!! ;D making changes to my fantasy team too -- some sections it's hard to narrow down (and then I will be willing the people that I do pick NOT to crash out ) -- and then there's a couple that looking at how they've been doing, I'd pick them as surprise picks, but they aren't (or weren't when they started this) in the top 100, so I can't even pick them! grrr.... have to make do without them .... shoot, even being able to have a couple alternates would be nice ...
