Former world number 1, Marat Safin complained about the bad conditions of the court, which is too slow, weak and with some gaps that don't let the ball bounce perfectly. In spite of it, the Russian affirmed that the ground area is new and that they're still in time to adapt their games to the court.

Russians confirm Safin and Andreev to play singles next Friday


(....)Safin launched a message to the Chilean crowd: "We all know what we came for. We represent a very pacific sport, therefore I expect there won't be too much agressiveness. People can come here and enjoy a match that is going to be thrilling, there is no need to throw stuff and yell all the rude words you know***", affirmed the first team player in the two previous DC editions won by his country.

The official doctor of the Russian team, Sergei Yasnitskiy, revealed the real condition of the team's best ranked, Dmitry Tursunov (21º): "He has an injury on the left wrist which causes him much pain, it's on his right hand's tendons. He needs to receive a treatment for a couple of weeks in order to be fully recovered".

In any case, Tursunov is in conditions to play. He's probably to be selected for the doubles and he's said that he's fit if it's required. "I have been practicing for three days, I can play the three days matches , it's that that's a decission made by the Captain, not by me".

*Marat being translator for some in the Russian team, Tarpishev not understanding anything in the whole press conference LOL
*The whole Russian team was in good mood while answering the press´ questions
*Dima was made a loooong question and he replied "yes" and everyone laughed
*Marat complained about the court during all the training session. Bad bounces according to him, it´s too slow, it´s hard coming from the Ao and 'sometimes you want to win but you feel bad in the court and you can´t control your nerves', and 'we don´t have pressure'
*Dima says he has been training for days and he feels he can play singles and doubles, but that´s a captain´s desition.
*Tarpishev said that Marat and Igor will play the singles the first day, if there are no changes
