I found this on Eurosport ;D ;D ;D  Marat Safin takes his bow at the ATP tournament in Estoril on Tuesday with a match against Italian qualifier Fabio Fognini. The Russian will be looking to improve on his recent poor form, which includes a disappointing performance on the clay at Monte Carlo two weeks ago. Safin looked out of sorts in the sunshine on the French south coast as he fell in two sets to Paul Henri Mathieu in the first round, losing his cool on the way. The 2004 runner-up in Estoril was never at the races, and will be hoping for better in Estoril as the French Open bears down on players on the tour. But it will not be easy, as should he get over the first hurdle, a second round meeting with compatriot Nikolay Davydenko awaits, after the Russian came from behind to beat Vincent Spadea on Monday and book his place in the next round. Also in action on the second day of competition in Portugal is Spanish player Carlos Moya who plays another qualifier, Flavio Saretta of Brazil. Sixth seed Moya will also be hoping for improvement after losing to Russia's Evgueni Korolev in the first round in Barcelona last week. And with the French Open coming up in just under a month, Moya will be looking for a morale boosting performance in Portugal. |
