Quotes of Marat after the match :
«J'étais très frustré parce que j'étais très proche au premier set, à 3-1. Tout d'un coup, le set m'a échappé. Puis Tipsarevic a commencé à mieux jouer.
"I was really frustrated because i was so close in the first at 3-1. Suddenly the set slipped away from me. Then Tipsarevic started to play better, my are started to shake a little bit. I felt the pressure. I was perfectly able to analyse the situation. Unfortunately i couldn't do anything. I believe that i have 2 more years to see how the situation is going to become. I have no desire to go on playing if i'm 50 in the world."I don't like that at all...

first player in the second round, first player out of the second round. Gosh he needs to prove himself, he really does. He is too good to just slip away.
He posesess too much brilliance for where he is right now.. it's such a shame.

Oh no, not the "I'm retireing at 30" talk again... I feel it's his own way to push himself like "if you don't play better, end of the story my friend and don't come to complain !"... You know like mom and kids "if you go on like that, no ice cream for you !"

Yeah i know, but it doesn't seem like his technique is working.. Why doesn't he play tournaments as if he were playing DC? Or at least coming on court as motivated?

I like that idea Its a positive thought considering im not feeling too optimistic at the moment Sad enough hearing him lose a match letalone talk about retirement.

His game has shown in past months that it was still there so it's him and his brain who have to find a way to keep everything together...

It's not a motivation problem, for me it's clearly a training question and a question of how to get mentally prepared before a tournament. Marat wants it so bad that the pressure caught him and he panicked. It didn't happen in DC because he's not alone in the bench, he has people near to reassure him and he refuses to oaf in front of them because they're counting on him... Today he was just alone wth himself and he lost the battle...

i just came back from a difficult exam only to see this very painful score to say the least!
like most of you guys i am very frustrated but i am happy that i am not alone, that we are together to share our thoughts in not so great times!
since the beginning of the season we have been waiting, hoping to see the old marat back, there have been only glimpses of his former self and some rare flashes of brilliance that he is capable of!
i think how this half of the year is going my thoughts don t seem too erratic. first of all i think marat has to loose weight, he has gotten stronger (at least in my oppinion) but his footwork is just not right! that used to make him very special because he was an exeption among the big guys having not only firepower but also incredible footspeed and reactivity! i really don t want to say that he is not working hard i am sure he is!
my next pont is his coach! i respect his decision to work with volkov right after his return from knee injury, he needed someone he can talk with and just to make him feel right! but, i still believe that stopping to work with peter lundgren was an error! he played his best tennis end 04-beginning 05! i just don t see his game getting anyhow better with volkov, his forehand in 9 matches out of 10 is all over the place except where is should be!
i had high hopes after his match against vicente and although my serbian compatriot janko is everything but a lousy player marat shoud have beaten him in 3! maybe like Samia said his motivation wasn t there like it is in DC but that is also a problem that he should take care of if he wants to play well again! i still think that he is not far away to finding his game but those little things that make the difference are missing!
i guess we have to say he gained some points and lets look forward to grass, it not like we are not used to deal with such situations!
you are all very welcome to share your thoughts, and those who will continue to watch roland garros have fun, hopefully some great matches to come!
