Well - Fox Sports3 just showed the 2 semis from LV - but I didn't turn on until the last three games - perhaps mercifully as it was not happy viewing, as Bia has already described - hard to imagine WHAT was going through his mind - but his expression when he overhit a forehand to give Lleyton match point - where he just kind of held his head - he was almost smiling like he just could not believe what was happening - well,that just said it all really - things just did not flow for him tonight - the post match interview well, its good to hear he is staying positive - and I guess we should see this in the context of the year as a whole - like Bia says, it's not the end of the world - tomorrow is a new day!! if he advances another round again in the next tourney, then we WILL be seeing him in a final!!!

Yes, Marat, i think so too. Well, like they say, 3 time's a charm. I just hope he cleared up his hangover by now and keeps motivated. |

Yeah, just keep thinking positive. What else can we do?  I'm gonna see the replay in a little while. Thanks Bia for the report, once again!  And thanks guys for the pics and the article. At least he is sounding confident... that's a good thing. I think Sasha was suposed to arrive Friday, so enjoy Vegas guys and have a good drive to IW on Monday ;D kisses p.s. Bad luck Marat lost to a class opponent today and lets hope he can regain some form heading into IW and Miami.

Hey guys I've stayed last night till 6.00 a.m. to see him play, and even if he lost, it was great to see him play ... I mean I've seen some amazing shots, but unfortunatly I've seen also a lot of unforced errors from his part, I think this made the diference (espetialy in the first set)... Despite the result I thought that he was pretty calm, he missed a lot and stupid but I think he was more mature in his game GOOO MARAT, better luck next time and hope to see you in the first 20 real soon  Congrats Marat |

Eurosport 2 showed the whole match at 2am. Watched it this afternoon. Basically the big yin made far too many unforced errors. Annoying, considering he was playing so well and seemed so focused in that first set. The mature Marat.  Hewitt, as we say in Scotland, really gets on my tits - I really wanted Marat to flatten him.  But it wasn't to be. Marat played a lot of good angle shots from mid-court and missed on the baseline shots, usually by only a few inches. He certainly went for his shots more than Hewitt who was content to stay back and let Marat play the shots. Perhaps the right tactic under the circumstances. If Marat had pulled in the shots a little tighter and didn't try to hit so close to the line so much, it might have been a different outcome. There were arm-swinging moments from Marat. Struck fear into my heart. He loses the plot when he starts that nonsense. It was brief, thankfully.  All things considered, it was good to see the boy in a semi! ;D Where's he off to now? |
