Well honnestly i prefer Mahut than Clément for Marat... He has beaten Nicolas in Moscou and, except his serve-volley style, he has not as many weapons than Clément to bother Marat...

Ok...I'm not sure what to think of this. I was going to ask WHY the change but I've just found the article on the Bercy site. Nalbandian Withdraws, Muscial chairs in the DrawThe Argentinian David Nalbandia withdrew from the BNP Parisbas Masters. This withdrawl permits French tennis to welcome another French player into the draw. And to beat a record. Explications. Beaten this Friday in the quarter finals of Basel (sp? Where Federer is from) by the Swiss, Stanislas Wawrinka, the Argentinian David Nalbandian (no. 3) suffering from gastro enteritis, preferred to withdraw from the tournament. Nalbandian, who was still in the running for a spot at the Masters Cup, a title he currently holds, now sees his chances of qualification diminish. Nalbandian’s defection permits Dominik Hrbaty to become seeded and to slide into Nalbandian’s place in the draw. Another consequence is that Arnaud Clement, who owed his participation in the tournament to an invitation, can now enter directly into the draw. Clement’s wild card has been attributed to Nicolas Mahut. Record Participation Assured. This brings the total number of French players to 11, a record in the history of the tournament and this before the verdict of the qualififications. As a result, Clement has been displaced in the draw, taking Hrbaty’s place and he will now play the Chiliean, Nicolas Massu in the first round. Clement, initially was meant to be opposed to…Marat Safin. And it’s finally, Mahut who will have the redoubtable honor to defy the three time winner of the tournament.

Mahut, great ;D Thank you David Shame, though, I would've liked to see the Argentine play. I found this piccie from 1999 on the official website. Marat was runner-up to Agassi. BTW, are you aware that of the last five times Marat played Bercy, he was in the final 4 times and won three titles? Pretty good record...

If my memory is good Marat only lost 2 matches in Bercy. In 1999 in the final for his first time there, and in 2001.... vs Andreas Vinciguerra an the 3rd round. ;D Ok my memory is good but not good enough to remember the second one.... thanks to the atp site for that
