*wobbles in* woah, craziness. I don't see why to get all worked up. Sure, it would be nice if he won atleast 1 tourney this year, but I think we all, including marat, have accepted that this year just totally sucked and personally I just want it over so he can start fresh and hopefully on a good note next year, without injury and able to actually play the AO. I dunno if anyone else agrees with me, but I don't think he necessarily needs to win a tourney. It appears to me that he's working his way back to fighting form, and already even with out a title he's ending the year on a good note and I just hope he can carry this confidence into next year. BTW I dun wanna start an argument or anything. These are just my thoughts, just figured I'd share with the group. lol *wobbles back out* ;D ;D Cyn, i totally agree. Geez i was contemplating not expressing myself in this thread , but then i'd hate for anyone to feel inhibited or anything. It is really sad to hear that he lost, i just thought he would get by alright and come far in this tournie, but as i say, shit happens Like Cyn said, i [glow=red,2,300]cant wait [/glow]for next year. Marat gets to start afresh, the AO is always an excellent tournie for him and according to my calculaltions he will go great in it ;D I understand how frustration can get the better of us, especially at such games like this, where we really want him to do well for him to progress. heck, even iv'e screamed and yelled hot headed profanities in the heat of the moment, you cant help yourself when you want the guy to win so damn much ! ! ;D But this year has been a bit crazy, the pressure is on him 100 times as much as it his on us. So all the postive Zen has to flow and by next season, he'll be right . . . Of course thats the fun of being a Marat Safin fan, he is an unpredictable and exciting individual. You have federer, arguably the greatest tennis player this world has ever seen, and i love him for it, but Marat has that unpredictable streak in him that makes you go all crazy and stay up at all hours of the night, trying to catch matches, scoreboards, anything at all! So i think everyone should enjoy the experience of being a fan of Marat Safin (the others dont know what they are missing out on!! ) Peace xox

I'm going to sidestep the debate that's going on here and safely assume that this is how we're all feeling right now:

OK, this is a very dark and gloomy Friday morning, I have not gotten enough sleep last night even though I went to bed after the first set and I have a splitting headache already, and after reading 4 pages of that debate the headache has just gotten worse. As an administrator of this forum I have this to say: 1. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. One thing that shall not be tolerated on this forum (and in case you have forgotten - please go and read the rules, sometimes they are a really good read) is disrespect towards Marat or any other tennis player for that matter. Please don't make me give you examples and make me quote some of the posts above because this is a brand new day and after this post I hope this topic shall be closed. 2. Just as everyone is entitled to express their own opinion about Marat, other people are entitled to express their opinion about other people's opinions, this is normal. Good-hearted arguements and discussions, especially when they are tennis related are always welcome, but the upper word in this whole disussion should be RESPECT towards one another and the people you're discussing. If arguements get personal - please take them out of the forum, you have PMs and e-mails for private conversations, so please make use of those. As a 7-year Marat fan I have this to say: His wins make us happy, cheery and grinning, his losses tear our hearts out and sometimes make us so mad, we're blind with fury. But for one second stop and think, if this is how we feel, how does he feel in these moments? And what is it that he wants to hear or read at that point in time? Just ask yourselves these questions, and I am sure the answer will be there, lying on the surface...for true fans that is I consider this discussion over. Let's move on. Welcome home Maratik ;D See you soon boy

OK. I am going to repeat something which has been said by several people already : Everyone has a right to their opinion. I would hate for last night's excesses (and let's admit that they were a bit excessive ) to make anyone here feel like they cannot say what they think or how they feel for fear of what some one else might say or do. That is not the point of this forum at all. Secondly, I want to say, of course we are all going act and react differently when it comes to Marat, whether we are talking about his tennis or anything else to do with him. We are all different people. It's a credit to Marat as a player, and more importantly as a person, that somehow he manages to bring us all together despite those differences. Variety is the spice of life, (or so they say) and that is what makes this forum so fantastic and full of fun. Let's not lose that, shall we?

Ok, (all i wanna say to Marat at the mo w/o getting into a debate ) Marat not cool man, not cool. Hopefully this is not disrespectful in any way (shoulda post this before Annie logged in w/ a splitting headache ), but that's basically what i felt right now. I certainly am not angry at Marat. Disappointed, sure, but never angry. i mean, who am I anyway, i'm not the one who played the match. thus i have no right. i'm confused tho, cos Marat has been losing to low-profile players and kept beating high-profile players (except Blake or Gonzo). Is it because the 'nothing to lose' attitude that they have vs Marat or something? Best of luck Marat for the nxt one

I'm sad that he lost, but I'm not mad because I know he must be feeling a lot worse than me.... than all of us. It's killing me no to be able to do more to help him than just stand here and stare at the f*****g scoreboard. This week was very painful for many reasons and I wanna thank him (and you guys) for taking my mind off "real" life worries a bit..... even if I could have used more time off. I hope that his friends and familly are gonna find the right words to help him go through the end of this season so he can find some inner peace for the next one. This year has been crap but there has been some good things in it.... let's not forget them and stay positive for the end of this year.

Look at the linesman's face. Even he looks disappointed that Marat hit a (poor) shot like that.
