i know this is gonna sound a bit shallow but whaterver he's thinking, he looks damn good thinking it...seriously though, against rochus he just looked a bit uncomfortable on the court...almost like his vision of the game was clouded...i don't mean that literally but you just got the feeling he wasn't feeling the shots like he does when he's playing full of confidence...

Marat never liked playing Ollie and we know it and playing Ollie while he's still not confident about the game was even harder. That's why I think he flipped so badly at that so-called footfault and lost the TB in the first set..it was like "Come on, I just came out on court after 6 months, I am still not that clear about movement and hitting the ball and there Ollie at the other side of the net and now THIS??? God, there's no way it's gonna work today" But from now on it can only get better...I hope

It really was great to see him on court, but it's true-he did look like a little tired... :-/maybe it was too hot,and maybe he didn't sleep well, and maybe rochus was so damn boring...

He looks like a man who's wondering why he's playing all that crappy tennis. LOL

I think he needs more match rythm and staying calm ! I agree totally with you, if he had played the doubles match it might have been another history with rochus

There is a radio link at www.dubaitennischampionships.com/But if you cant hear it, once again I have wrote it out from yesterday's match Transcript of Marat’s interview yesterday “Yes not enough matches, many mistakes and like I said you need to get the rhythm back and it doesn’t come straight away and it takes a while although I beat Davydenko yesterday it doesn’t really mean but I got a long way to go, still many things to work on but I hope it will come back soon”

OMFG I have just started at page one of this thread as I found a picture of marat with a caption and wasn't too sure if it had been posted, lots of other shots but not this one....it was from Marat's first round match... found on archive.gulfnews.com Marat Safin of Russia, sporting a hairstyle like the Japanese warriors, returns to countryman Nikolay Davydenko en route to his victory in the opening round of the Dubai Open Championship. Hi ! I'm late I know but I just wanted to thank everyone for the videos, photos and articles, they're all really nice !! I'm so proud of Marat ! I didn't know how the match against Ollie went on, so now that I learn he has had BPs and SPs (?), I'm sure that he WILL be back at his best soon ! Perhaps not Indian Wells and Miami 'cause he doesn't really like these two tournaments, but soon enough ;D !! At least he has nearly no points to defend before RG, so he'll play without pressure, and that is when he is able to play as he wishes.
I still remember his sentence in GQ: "My time will come" !! I keep thinking and hoping about that, and Dubaï really has shown that he's right... OMG I'm really getting overexcited about all of this ;D ;D ;D !!!!
