On MS.com webby says it's nothing serious. I think he just wants to get out of there and have some time to himself. it would be nice if he could have a vacation, but not gonna happen. I was coming to chat but he's back on the SB? Okay back to the board. I need some nerve pills or something...... It´s a walk over...... That says the official site of the tournament in doubles draw..... Those are the news.... There are no more details.... UPDATE: from official site: 05.05.05 Bhupathi/Woodbridge won on a W/O over Marat/Joachim. Official reason - Marat had a slight injury to his arm.

Thanks lau and Karen Seems like it was more of a precaution than anything else, and as you said Karen he prob really needs to get outta there. Maybe he will get sometime to himself, and hopeful sort himself out. His private life really seems to spill over into his professional life and take over. IMO he really has not got his private life sorted by any means, and the weight still seems to be very much there. Time, just some more time, maybe thats what he needs, and some good support.
This may sound childish I know, but I am HAPPY Roddick lost, and very happy that Amalgro lost too, I am sorry for Gaudio, but at least with Gaudio, Roddick, Ivan, etc out of the tournament I think Marat will stay at 4th place? Roddick might just over take Marat, not sure and Coria I don't think can get there yet!!

Andy will take over Marat, but it really doesn't matter that much, the race that is. I have a horrible feeling that he will lose first round in Rolland Garros and Wimbledon. Then he'll wake up in time for US Open. It's just like last year when he bombed out in two slams. I like Marat because he's emotional, but I think he's too emotional. Maybe he should become more cold-hearted.

Ohhhhhhhh everyone, I really wish that Marat at least once will visit this forum. I really want him to see and read all the comments that you all have been posting here.. To see how you all are wishing him the best , how you all love him and really really care aobut him. How you spend every single free time to find a new information about him and his scores and what he is doing. I mean all these I am sure will mean a lot to him, I am sure it will. I am sure knowing that there are so many great people who loves him and really cares about him, no metter what, loosing or winning, we are always here for him. I know this might sound childlish and kind of silly, but this is exactly what Marat is missing now and what he is need now. I am sure then he will win every single match and will be more then sure in himself.

Cassie, i'm afraid i have similar feeling with you. but i hate it... the clay season is always the worst time for both marat and us. i mean, he can play well on red clay, but not as well as he does on hard surface. what's more, RG is on clay and that's his fav. sometimes i wish he didn't care about RG so much, just as the way he treats Wimbledon... his failure on grass never depress me so much. anyway, i will still pray hard for his outstanding performance in RG.

OK OK OK Don't kill me people!!!! LOL I promised to come back in a few minutes and here I am!!!! Only a day after ROTFL. Got bombed with work and couldn't get online until this morning. Phew where do I start....Now that I slept on it for 2 nights, I think I can very emotionlessly talk about Marat's game with Almagro and other issues you all have been discussing here without me..arghhhhh I hate my job...it doesn't let me go into TGRF often LMAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOO ;D ;D ;D SOOOOO, first this is first Marat-Almagro. I watched the game from the very beginning till the very end (which was 1am Moscow time and I get up to go to work at 6am!!!! Damn you, Italians...you could have made the matches a couple of hours earlier!!!) and now that I had the time to digest everything here are my impressions. The beginning was brilliant. Here they are on the court next to the umpire throwing a coin. Small, young and a little bit scared Almagro, in front of him dead serious, concentrated Marat stretching his muscles...he is calmness and tranquility himself. And I think to myself "Oh man, we're sooooo gonna do it tonight". A game starts, Marat is soooooo the Marat we all know and love. Calm, confident, focused a little bit superior I might say. 6 aces in the first 15 minutes, he is Marat the Great yet again and I think "Oh man, we're soooooo gonna do it tonight". So shots are just unimaginable. I sit there hypnotised and loooove that same old feeling I have every time he comes out on court. TV broadcast was excellent, at the beginning they several times showed close-ups of Marat's face when he was preparing to take Almagro's serves. Man, what a sight!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had a camera handy to take a photo of that close-up. The level of concentration, seriousness and focus was unreal!!! Those eyes.... After the first 20 minutes first serve percentage is over 70%. And I think "Oh man, we're so gonna do it tonight". So what happens next...nothing new I suppose. Marat tries to be Marat all the way. Marat tries new things, tries and tries and tries...sometimes he's unlucky, sometimes he's silly, he takes up risks, tries to play exciting, beautiful tennis we all love him for but...something is missing, he's not accurate enough, not lucky enough...it's just simply not enough. He misses once, twice....and then..same old story. He gets annoyed, he smashes racquets, he brings out all his knowledge of Russian swear words and dawns them upon himself...he grumbles and screams at himself....Oh there was a new one, too this time "Marat, Marat!!!!! It's clay you're playing on!!!!! Clay, Marat you moron, clay!!!!!!" ;D ;D So by the end of the second set 1 serve percentage was already 50%. And I think to myself "Oh man, are we gonna do it tonight?" Almagro, on the other hand, brilliantly took advantage of the situation. Quoting Marat, he played solid...mega solid. He had nothing to lose and he didn't chicken out in front of such a player. At a certain point I couldn't believe my eyes, he was forcing Marat play his game. Marat was all over the place and my heart was breaking. He was so emotional that all I wanted to do was run out there and hug him to bits. The moment I really remember is in the second set Almagro almost took Marat's serve at a certain point, Marat managed to equalise and then it was advantage Safin and the play was rather long, then Marat hit a ball and it hit the top of the net, froze there for a second and really slowly bounced to the Almagro's side. Marat was like a desperate baby...he was so happy luck had finally decided to grace him with its presence that he acted as if he had won the match. He looked so..so helpless and in need to consolation at that point. Well, we all know the rest. It ended up on a very dramatic note and I swore and paced up and down the room and couldn't believe that "Oh man, we actually didn't do it tonight". Then I went to bed and slept. The funniest thing of it all was the morning after. I woke up and obviously started thinking about the game the night before while I was getting ready for work. And an incredible thing hapenned...I just couldn't remember anything game related...well not game related but technicalities related you know, the serves, the shots..nothing!!!! I was totally blank!!!!!!! And do you know what were the only moments that remained in me? Emotions....humanity moments. Until today all I can relate this match to are the following moments: 1. Marat hit a serve and it was brilliant: high speed, right in the middle, an ace itself. But Almagro for some weird reason decided he could take it and went for it. The serve was so strong that Almagro slipped, fell and slided on the clay with his arms and knees (OUCH!!!!). First thing Marat did was run up to the net and ask Almagro how he was and if everything was alright. 2. There were a couple of arguable moments related to the umpire and if the ball was in and out and Almagro was getting annoyed at a certain point. And each and every single time Marat would go up to the mark, look at it and show Almagro by how much he had missed. They also TWICE!!!!! had a conversation with each other in Spanish during the game. LMAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 3. Marat was serving, the serve was really good but the umpire showed that the ball hit the net. Marat disagreed and argued with Graff but the umpire didnt change his mind. So Marat served again and hit the net again and the signal went "beeep", so Marat comes up to the umpire and says "NOW it's a net" and walked away smiling. This is what Marat Safin is all about. Whether he is winning or losing...he is a genuine human being whom we admire and support, watching him is worse than a roller coaster ride..much worse. But that's what makes me admire him even more, tennis is not tennis when you watch it indifferently. You may love Marat, you may hate Marat but one can never be indifferent to him. Today is just another day and what was yesterday had passed already. Time to look forward and forget the past. Come on Marat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter what.....nadezhda umiraet posledney (hope dies last). OK, here...I said it..now I feel better LOL As for yesterday's matches. I never thought I would say this but I feel soooooooooo sorry for Roddick. Honestly, it's unreal what hapenned. Did anyone watch the match? Geeeezzzzz.....Talk about umpires and bad luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nadal-Canas was a great one to watch and Canas is real fighter but Rafa is way too on a high right now. I actually think he'll win the tournament yet again. However I think his trainers have to give him a break before RG or there is a chance that he might wear himself out. Oh well....it's an exciting tournament even though Marat is out....and let's hope Hamburg brings us some more luck I also hope that clay was a wise choice for the Davis Cup against France (I am somehow starting to doubt that but it's too early to tell ) Have a brilliant day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I will be online and then I will be off until the 12th due to public holidays in Russia. So don't miss me too much!!! lol Kisses to all and thanks for all the photos and posts.

First af all, official news about Marat from the official site 05.05.05 Bhupathi/Woodbridge won on a W/O over Marat/Joachim. Official reason -Marat had knee pain. 05.05.05 Apologies for any confusion re withdrawal reason - translation troubles! I don´t feel sorry for Gaudio.... I wanted to kill him!!!! ;D ;D ;D... As I said in the other thread (the one about argentine players) I have no words to express what happened there!! As for yesterday's matches. Yeah.... I felt sorry for Roddick.... (I never though I would say this)..... And he had such a nice......gesture (is this the word??) Definitely, those are the good things of Andy.... I really felt sorry for him...... I´ll post this because this explains it.... 05/05/2005 18:46 - VERDASCO OVERCOMES GENEROUS RODDICK Andy Roddick's generosity could have cost him his third round match and a shot at the Rome Tennis Masters on Thursday.
Receiving at 5-4 and one set up, the number one seed seemed to have won. His opponent, Spain's Fernando Verdasco, hit a second serve which was called out and then approached the net. Most spectators thought the match was over.
But Roddick did not want to win as the result of what he thought was a bad line call, so he effectively gave away the point and the match continued.
Verdasco subsequently saved more match points, broke Roddick's serve for the first time in the tournament and went on to win the match 67 76 64.
"I have to thank him, he is a great sportsman," Verdasco said after the match. "He probably thought it wouldn't change the match. But that gave me a chance to win. That's tennis."
Verdsaco, who goes on to play number nine seed Guillermo Coria in the quarter final on Friday, continued: "If the situation was the other way around I would have done the same thing." The second serve was the marker for an improved performance in the remainder of the match, Verdasco admitted. "I then played my best tennis in the tie-break."
Slow motion replays of the match point show that Roddick's decision was probably the right one.
"It was in," Roddick said after the match. "I don't think that what I did was anything extraordinary. The referee would have called it in. I just saved him a trip. Luck just wasn't on my side today." That was a sincere attitude, he reacted like that inmediately.... Well done Andy!! (OMG!!! I said that!!) Although he lost, I will allways remember that....it was nice... And Nadal..... He´s scaring me!!!!! Yeah!..... I´m sorry for all those grass fans, hahahaha. I love clay....hard courts are just OK, but grass.... Grass is for cows!!!!..... ;D ;D ;D ;D (Vilas said that when he was a pro tennis player and for me is one of the best tennis phrases, ;D ;D ;D) Oh there was a new one, too this time "Marat, Marat!!!!! It's clay you're playing on!!!!! Clay, Marat you moron, clay!!!!!!" . ;D ;D ;D ;D It´s great having someone who understands russian and can translate us this things, hahahaha I wish I could watch the match to tell you about Marat´s spanish conversations And thank you very much, Annie for your review of the match.... If I add the scoreboard and your review.... I almost saw that match!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D or should I say ??!!
