And I'm a bit mad that Gonzo and Massu have Olympic medals and Marat doesn't! Not very nice to be reminded of that until March! GRRRR! j/k I love Marat without any medals, LOL!

I agree, on clay Chile is better but you have to be concentrated, as Vass so well said, they're a tricky opponent, Gonzo can get crazy on fast surface too if his serve and BH are ON on that day! And if Marat has an OFF day.......... Trust me habibi will NOT have an off day on that day. There is too much at stake here. These guys may have Olympic medals BUT they are NOT going to be Davis Cup Champions ;D psssss.... Sirius I hope I did not scare you with those caps LOL I could not agree with you more

Maria>> yeah i saw PHM against Moya crazy match... the score was 3-0 for Moya in the 5th set and finally Paulo won 6-3, so cool Plus the only matches he had played in DC were the match against Marat and the match against Misha in the 2002 final. And he lost them both... so the match against Moya was the first he won in this competition, and he was very happy because of that (and Forget too). This week he's been invited in a show on tv, and he said the match against Misha isn't a bad souvenir because he learnt from it, and it was a final after all so he sayd there's nothing to regret. And now the win against Moya gave him confidence (especially when it's the only of the 5 matches we won this week end, and he is the one who won this point so he may be proud). But if Russia and France meet again in 2005 and Paulo is in the team, i think it's gonna be special for him

Yeah, he said that in the interview (or press conference) after the match too! I hope Paulo will have a great future in tennis! ;D

But of course he will do well on clay but how do u think he will fare on grass and hard on grass i've no idea but on hard courts i think he's already doing good. Actually he has won only 2 tournaments so far: Lyon and Moscow, in 2002... hard courts tourneys. French players are usually all-courts players, they're not doing better on one type of court than on another. They could be very good players on clay, because they have RG to practice, but clay isn't more priviledged than other courts... so at the end they're doing quite good (but not VERY good) on almost all surfaces.... except grass maybe because i don't think they use lots of grass courts to practice. Escude is the only one who's really talented on grass. But i think Mathieu can be a good player in the future, if he isn't injured like he's been in 2003 and part of this year.

wat about grosjean on grass? 2 queen's finals n wimbledon semis ;D LOL, yeah true, not bad ... but he's the typical example of the all-courts players i was talking about.... Escude is good only on grass and hard court, doesn't really like clay

SO PHM is a fairly good all round player.
I would really like to see an ecounter between Marat and PHM.
Possibly at moscow a tournie PHM has won.

The first time was in Moscow in 2002, and Mathieu won 7-6 6-4... and then Marat won in the DC final, on clay this time... i'd like to see a match betwwen them too Safinno (and like you said, maybe before the end of the year )
