Marat from his post match interview:
and I have to agree with him, he simply cannot please, if he shows to much emotion he is unstable and can't focus, if he stays in controll and tries to focused they say he is not interested.........I can see how he would really want to tell the tennis world to shove it

i can just imagine him tearing the entire house down right now... OMG that would be quite irresponsible considering the fact that he's not in HIS house at the moment.... Jeez... poor friends of his grandparents.... (coz he's staying at their place, isn't he?)

Guys, I thought of Vass last night too (how pissed he might be), Yeah I thought of him too. When there were moments when Marat was down I could imagine Vass shouting "Ace Enqvist, ace!!!!" (that's what he was doing when Marat was playing Lopez in Sopot )

A little bit of 'insider info' on Marat post-match - he was thoroughly upset (surprise surprise ) and he and Amit seemed to be having a long & private heart-to-heart in the hotel room. I guess there was lots of soul-baring and possibly a few tears too Although Peter is his coach, I think he is more distant with Marat, whereas Amit will listen to him rant and rave and then sit and talk to him quietly but rationally. I'm glad he's there for Marat right now. More than anything, I was told Marat needed 'cheering up' from the fans. I think I'd forgotten, Marat can be his own harshest critic and it sounds like he may be really punishing himself for the loss last night I'm pretty sure Marat & co are aware of the degree of his fans frustration and loss of faith/hope. But I think Marat's reached rock-bottom > he played the match, we watched the match, and we were all heart-broken by the end of it. He needs true fans now, more than ever - maybe even more than during his injury. I'm still really sore about his loss last night, but let's face it, if Marat gets into the 2nd round of a tournament now, it will be an improvement ;D One positive note > the pressure of US Open, RG etc has gone now. There are only a handful of tourneys left to play and apart from possibly Kremlin Cup & Bercy, it doesn't matter to the 'outside world' how far he goes. So maybe we'll see some unexpected wins as a result? I'm clutching at straws at the moment, but I keep reminding myself that I didn't become a Marat fan because of his trophies or his head-to-head record: I'm a fan because I love following the world's most talented tennis player. His losses are always going to be crippling to me, and his wins will make me ecstatic. But it's been a long time since we've seen Marat really shine; Oz was close, but the best is still yet to come, so I'm going to stick around for that, because it can happen anytime and in the most unexpected ways & places..... So come back soon, Marat! We'll be waiting for you on the other side, and when you pick up that next trophy, I hope you'll remember your true fans who kept the faith despite being as heart-broken as you must be.

Ok, now I feel sorry for him But I soooo agree with what you've said Ruth!! Marat had many ups and downs in his career but we're still here, so that means we're not only for good times, but also for the bad moments. Even though we seem to be VERY upset sometimes (hey, who doesn't have a bad day huh? ), we still love him for being such a great guy. And because we all are masochists, we'll continue this rollercoaster ride till the end of his career ;D. Don't worry Marat, you still have true fans that will stick with you forever!!! (and ignore our dissapointment which we feel sometimes... it's only because we want you to be the best and we want all the best for you, but if sometimes you can't make it for some reason, it's okay, we get over it)

I'm still really sore about his loss last night, but let's face it, if Marat gets into the 2nd round of a tournament now, it will be an improvement ;D hehe.. yeah.. thats one way to look at it!! ;D always keep up the positive vibes! I'm clutching at straws at the moment, but I keep reminding myself that I didn't become a Marat fan because of his trophies or his head-to-head record: I'm a fan because I love following the world's most talented tennis player. His losses are always going to be crippling to me, and his wins will make me ecstatic. actually... i became a Marat fan becuz he was losing!! At the MasterCup there was this guy who was losing all his matches.. and I thought that was sooo sad so I was like yeaaah cmon man, beat him.. beat him! And after a while I came to realize who this Russian fellow really was.. not only an amazing talented tennisplayer.. but also a man with a great sence of humor and a 'colorful' way of approaching things... And since I didnt let go.. And I'll keep supporting this man! He deserves it! And for me.. I simply cant imagine how I would handle not being supportive.. It's a way of life! ;D ;D
