Sorry Ruth I'm talking for myself when i say i've never seriously think he could tank his match. And i think the all thing about the announcement the officials in Sopot could make was a joke. At least that's how i understood it... But sorry anyway. And as for the support Marat needs from us, i'll just repeat what i've already said (in other threads maybe ): i'm sure he can achieve great things during the US hard court season, and i'm waiting for that !!!

hey guys, no need to apologise - I'm just trying to rally the troops ;D We've all been a bit down after Wimbledon, and we all need space to write our commiserations, but I don't want us to stay there. So let's turn the page, put the depressing results at Wimbledon behind us, and look forward to the real season ahead - Marat's time is coming up this summer!!! Ruth *looking forward to Marat killing Roddick in the final of US Open & hoping there's a close-up on Brad Gilbert's face when Marat lifts the trophy *

You know, I wouldn't believe that Marat would have a great season which I should look forward to until that great part starts. Now he didn't give us a single indication that his season will inprove. What he did show us is that he doesn't want to play, that he complains a lot and this kind of thing, which doesn't generaly bring anything good. Those things I said are not based on Wimbledon. I cut Wimbledon out of my memory: he never appeared there. And that's not judged by the grass season as well (atleast not solely on it). It's about his general attitude towards playing tennis nowadays.
Now I realy want to think that he'll be doing well on hard courts, but this feeling that "no he totally lost it" always creeps to my mind and is the quite noticable dark background to the positive thoughs. Besides, being plainly and totally positive, thinking "he's a big man, he knows what to do", "he's going to win, for sure" seems naive now. We've been thinking like that for half a year now...

You're talking like he's achieved nothing in the past six months, he didn't do bad!!!! he did amazing at the AO, had some first round defeats, but come on, those were against Roddick, n Federer, that's an understandable loss! He did good at RG, but was hindered by a lot of blisters, and well okay wimby, well he doesn't put too much emphasis on it, so we shouldn't either. The hardcourt season is around the corner, and he'll do great!!!!

yeah vass! don't forget the AO!!! i thought he did brilliantly there, minus the small hiccup that was the final. though he ought to be doing better against roger. but then again, so does everyone else.

The hardcourt season is around the corner, and he'll do great!!!! thats right, but for a player like Marat it is NOTHING... because Marat with his talent should normally have already 4 or 5 Slams and dominate tennis together with Federer.... he just cannot fullfill his talent and get his act together for different reasons, you know. so thats very frustrating when you see him like that, but you have to accept it somehow.

yeah vass! don't forget the AO!!! This might seem like a stupid argument but here it is anyway: AO was more than 6 months ago. And I was talking about the failures starting afterwards.

Cheer up Vass, try some medetating *hammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....*, might lift your spirits, you got plenty of time to do it, now that you can't go online ;D
