this is turning into a jiat soliloquy. anyway, i found a 3rd article and duly translated it. and after i was done with that...i found a fourth. gosh... i hereby announce to one and all that after today, i probably won't have time to translate anymore articles from chinese to english cos after tomorrow's lecture, i will have a report to write which unfortunately is due on friday at 12 nn. HOWEVER, knowing me to be a super procrastinator and slacker...u might just get lucky and i might decide to translate sth while waiting for inspiration for my report. here's the 3rd. ********* Hot on the heels of Schuettler’s arrival the day before, Moya, Ferrero, Srichaphan, Safin and Nalbandian arrived in Beijing yesterday to prepare for the China Open.
With the arrival of 5 superstars in one day, the capital’s airport was buzzing with activity. At 9am, Spain’s Ferrero flew in from Madrid. He was followed an hour later by Safin who came from Moscow. The 4 hour time difference did not affect Safin. “ I’m really excited to be here this time, because I get to lift my racquet and play a few matches properly. I don’t want to leave too early, so I brought along 6 racquets,” (only six? Hmmm…)said Safin, pointing to his huge racquet bag. In contrast to the wide awake Safin, Ferrero appeared tired, although he felt that he would be more alert after a hot bath. But Srichaphan, feeling that he was in “familiar territory”, he flew in with his father without warning, and even booked his own accommodations and transport. At 7.15pm, Spain’s other superstar Moya arrived with his friend Nalbandian of Argentina. In contrast with compatriot Ferrero who chose to keep a low profile, the enthusiastic Moya drew the shrieks of many fans.
Besides the players who have already arrived in Beijing, Hrbaty, Schalken and others will also be arriving this weekend. In addition, this year’s Wimbledon champion Sharapova and multiple Slam winner Serena Williams amongst other, will also make appearances in Beijing. The Olympics womens doubles champions Li Ting/Sun Tian Tian and the first Chinese to enter a Grand Slam semis Zheng Jie will also make an appearance in this year’s addition of the China Open.

and the fourth....my comments in brackets. *****
This afternoon, Safin and Ferrero had a contest. Don’t worry about missing such an exciting event, because it was all in the name of fun, during practice.
Before the contest, Safin and Ferrero had a conversation on courtside. The conversation also included their coaches and assistants. From their expressions, the conversation wasn’t merely about tactics. The stubborn Safin was exaggerating his behaviour (haha), waving his arms around and causing the seated Ferrero to laugh uncontrollably. Of course, Ferrero had his chance to speak too and the volume of Safin’s laughter left the onlookers dying of curiosity.
The contest started and Safin’s father (hmm….misha’s there? Or could they have mistaken peter for misha?) kept picking at his game. On some occasions, Safin had to stop for a discussion before continuing with the game. The silent Ferrero also took this contest very seriously, his solemn expression indicating that he treated this like any other match.
The friendly contest gave the fans reason to cheer. Each camp applauded and cheered wildly whenever their favourite at every good shot.
Because of the overwhelming numbers of fans who turned up for the match, the police had to intervene ever so often to maintain order and confrontations between them and the fans nearly erupted. However, the police managed to settle everyone down although this was shortlived. Upon the conclusion of the match, the fans surged forward once again. (gee…talk about a security nightmare…)
The well-trained security force quickly formed a human wall and under the escort of 8 bodyguards, Safin and Ferrero managed to escape from the fans (gosh. That’s scary…). With such an overwhelming response to a practice match, if Ferrero and Safin should really meet in the main draw, the enthusiastic fans would probably overwhelm the two superstars.

I use the word Lewd instead of Outragiuos ever since the French Open where he pulled down his pants and that cracked me up.But never the less he is still outrageous and just a pleasure to watch.

Chun from Safinator forum translated some parts from some article. Pretty funny. on.starblvd.net/cgi-bin/bbsmsg?marat_safin&tr=1839sports.sina.com.cn/s/2004-09-12/1003364211s.shtml here's a very nice article abt marat. but unfortunately it's in chinese. the reporters asked marat to rank 'family, tennis, frds and beer', marat said he'll put family to the 1st place, including his current girlfrd, dasha, and then frds, tennis and beer. marat also mentioned that he treats every relationship very seriously, so he felt very sad after his broken-up with silvia and that's why he treasures his relationship with dasha very mumch. he also said that he may retire if he has family and children coz actually he wants a simple life and being with his family only. marat also said that he feels thankful for his fans, but at the same time he's worry as well coz he's afraid that dasha will feel jealous lol~~~ he also asked the reporters whether they think he is handsome. of cuz the reporters said ' yes ' and they asked him to look into the mirror if he doubts it. i've tried my best to translate the parts i think they are the most interesting, but very sorry that my english still sux!!! PS: Jiat, I don't want to give you any more translating work but...
