I know that I'm a few days late, but I just found this article while browsing in the net. Marat Safin has beaten fellow Russian Mikhail Youzhny to claim the inaugural China Open, the title his first of 2004. The first all-Russian ATP Tour decider since Safin downed the now-retired Yevgeny Kafelnikov three years ago to salute in Tashkent, Safin maintained his tournament record of not dropping a set as he won 7-6 (7-4) 7-5. Having tasted defeat in the Australian Open and Estoril finals earlier this year, Safin finally broke through to win his 12th career title and first since he saluted in the 2002 Paris Masters. "You forget this feeling. I started to feel happy," a delighted Safin said. "Not party time, time to continue working. I hope this is not going to be the last tournament I win in China. This one is the breaking points of winning more titles in Asia." "If you want to beat him, you need to do something more," Youzhny added. "That’s why I threw in some slice, came into net. Against Safin, (Paradorn) Srichaphan, everything’s the same, nothing special. All players have respect. We fight on court, but we all have respect." Final Result from the China Open 5-Marat Safin (Russia) bt Mikhail Youzhny (Russia) 7-6 (7-4) 7-5

ok. i'm not gonna translate the whole thing...takes too long...and as i've said before, too lazy. sorry BUT, i'll give u a brief summary of the most important bit. "If not for this win, I would probably have continued my slide and would probably never return to my peak condition. In this tournament, I beat a few strong opponents in a row, which allowed me to start taking note of myself again. I discovered, to my surprise that my technique was still there and that i could still be a threat. This win didn't just bring glory, it also brought me confidence."FINALLY shows us that he's concerned abt his career. PHEW!
