marats, I dare to disagree. Mario never found his way into the match, he stayed far behind his possibilities. What a shame, but Roger really seems to be unbeatable at the moment, a tennis machine . Well, Mario did a great job by advancing to the quarterfinals and I agree with the British commentators: His chances of winning Wimbledon in the coming years are pretty good. We'll see you around in July 2007 A few pics from today:

Down-to-earth interview with a pretty grounded young guy. Try to imagine Marat's answers to the same questions... Thanks to SloKid from MensTennisForums: Q: Where do you live?A: My official residence has been Monte Carlo for a while now, I have a small apartment there. When I'm in Split I live in my parents house. Q: Which TV do you have, where and when do you watch it?A: I have a Sony TV, I rarely watch it and if I do it's sports. Q: Similar question: hi-fi and computer?A: I travel with a Compaq laptop. Since ATP started giving us DVDs of our matches it comes quite handy. I also have an iPod, where I have a lot of Croatian music: Oliver, Gibonni, Prljavo Kazalište... Q: Watches: Now and wishes?A: They mean nothing to me. The one on the mobile phone is enough. Q: Jewelry?A: I don't wear it besides the gold necklace I have since I was a child. I got it for my confirmation, and it has a cross that was blessed by Pope John Paul II and a tennis racquet, that my parents got to me, when I became the Croatian U-12 champion, on it. Q: Clothing? Describe your style and what would it look like if there were no limits.A: I spend most of the time in Nike sports outfits. I like to dress-up for special occasions. I think that a person shows his level of culture by the way he dresses as well. Q: Cosmetics?A: Only the neccessary. Q: Car. State and wishes? When I'm in Split I borrow my dad's Mercedes for urgent stuff. Q: Favourite brands?A: Nike and Hugo Boss. Q: This year's vacation?A: I will go to a Croatian island for a week immediately after Wimbledon. Q: Favourite summer and winter locations?A: Summer on Croatian islands, Braè, Hvar, Šolta...In winter I love Rogla and Kranjska Gora a lot, we used go there a lot. Q: Where would you go if you had a weekend, week, month off and no money worries?A: Weekend Paris, week Rome. Anything more I would go home to Split. Q: Recreation: Where and how often?A: Practice multiples time a day, as long as I can remember. Q: What are you proud of?A: My work and family. Q: Sports: What did you train and has any of your friends of your age made it?A: When I was I kid I trained all sorts of sports: football, basketball, waterpolo. I decided to play tennis, because our house was right next to tennis courts in Firule in because my older brother Ivica was already playing. I don't remember if any of my schoolmates made it. Q: Where do you go for games?A: I love going to football matches. I'm lucky that tournament are going on in cities with big football teams. This way I had a chance to see some matches of Real, Barca, Juventus, Roma...I saw some Champions League matches live as well. Q: Are you a fan?A: Of course, everyone from Split is a Hajduk fan. Q: Last book, movie, cd, concert, theatre...A: Book The Da Vinci Code. If I only I can I go to concerts of Dalmatian musicians. I attended a charity concert in Split theatre. Q: Best food and location?A: Home at mum's. Q: Drink?A: Coca-Cola Q: What can you cook best and can you show off with it?A: I'm stuck with fried eggs. Q: What made you high the most in life?A: Love. And last year when we won the WC it was cool too. Q: Life motto?A: You can't achieve success with hard work and giving up on some things.

I did some research after Mario pulled out of the LA tournament and found out that he apparently injured his - KNEE! Now that brings back bad memories... He might even miss the US Open, what a blow after he did so well this year, breaking into the top 10 for the first time. Good luck, boy, I hope everything turns out better than feared!
