God noboday is letting this issue rest, from Lleyton press conference Q. Nalbandian is doing his best to get you down and out. He's gone on record saying he wants to play you on his home court. Does that fire you up? LLEYTON HEWITT: Not really, no. Q. Water off a duck's back? LLEYTON HEWITT: Yeah, yeah. [glow=red,2,300]Nalbandian always says something, so...[/glow] They should organise a fight after the DC tie and settle things like men

They should organise a fight after the DC tie and settle things like men Considering the September DC tie tickets were sold out in 24 hours (!!!!) 2 months before the actual tie, that`s not a bad idea

This week Guillermo Cañas is making his comeback to pro tennis. He is playing the Belèn (Brazil) challenger (U$S 50.000). His first rival will be Venezuela`s Johnathan Medina Alvarez (423) 10 more Argentine players are in tournament. Willy already trained yesterday in Belèn with his coach, Gastón Etlis, to get used to the hot weather. www.ole.clarin.com/jsp/v4/pagina.jsp?pagId=1268705&fecha=20060910

Great to see WIlly Canas - interested to see how he performs AS for DC - the team has been officially selected It is Acasuso Calleri Chela and of course David Nalbandian!!!!!!!
If you are wondering Lleyton has confirmed he will play this tie which the build up can only be described as Hostile!
This should be a win for Argentine but a fired up Lleyton Hewitt may have something to say about that!

Hey guys... I didn't follow all the mess that happened between Australia and Argentina. Can someone tell me or if this was already discussed here tell where I can read it. thanx OMFG!! The story is sooo long that it makes no sense telling it from the begginning LOL ;D ;D I think the first time there was some kind of "episode" was when Coria was like 15 years old in a juniors tournament... Since then, and specially in the last couple of years there have been "problems" between Lleyton and some Argentine players, specially Coria (the match between them during the last DC tie was insane ), Chela (AO 05 Chela spits in Lleyton´s direction during a change over BIG SCANDAL Lleyton wins, AO 06 Chela defeats Lleyton) and Nalbandian..... well....it seems they never got along.... And I`m sure I`m loosing tons of little details ;D ;D You can read about what happend and what was posted about the last Argentina-Australia tie here guyfromrussia.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=Dinara&action=display&thread=1108122073&page=21I hope that helps you understand..... And Ily..... stop making tabloid statements!!!!! It it cracks me up how you "add gasoline to the fire" ;D ;D ;D I honestly hope the crowd behaves and we have an entertaining tie EDIT: To be fair, Gaudio has been one of Lleyton`s regular hitting partner for many years and I don`t think there`s any kind of problem between Hewitt and any other Argentine player...... I don`t think anyone has got a problem with Chucho... The guy is a good as Bamby

BTW It was amazing how you summarised the recent history between these 2 countries in less than a page Fortunatelly is not the history between 2 countries, it`s the history between 2 national tennis teams I think Australia is a pretty cool country. Both countries have tons of things in common..., apart from the fact that Argentina is a 3rd world country and Australia not Having said that...., WE´LL KICK THEIR ASSES IN 10 DAYS!! EDIT: Willy Cañas won his first match... It was an easy win..., something like 61 62 or similar

DC should be an interesting event indeed . . . Hewitt is just an agro individual that cant hack a lot of things and relies on hate and tension to play a good game of tennis. . . good luck to australia, because it is my home country, but good luck to argentina, because they are the better team.

I cant believe this thread aint been on fire recently All things are ready but i just found some weird weird quotes from the Argentines Acasuso in 'Iraq' jibe at Hewitt Acasuso (l) says there is no need for Hewitt to employ minders Jose Acasuso has hit out at Lleyton Hewitt ahead of Argentina's Davis Cup semi-final with Australia this week. Hewitt, who has had several rows with Argentine players in the past, has employed two security guards for the hotly-contested tie in Buenos Aires. "Hewitt seems to think that he's come to Iraq," said Acasuso. "But we're not bothered because this is the circus that he wanted to set up. Nothing's going to happen and we shouldn't pay any attention to it." Acasuso says Hewitt's decision to employ extra protection will not affect his team's focus ahead of the tie, which starts on 22 September. "We're just worried about Argentina," Acasuso added. "Whether Hewitt has one bodyguard, or 500 bodyguards, that's up to him." Hewitt has a history of confrontations with players from Argentina. Juan Ignacio Chela, who will play this weekend, was fined for spitting at Hewitt at the Australian Open in 2005. Hewitt also had a verbal spat with Guillermo Coria during an ill-tempered Davis Cup singles rubber in Sydney last July. Argentina, who beat holders Croatia in the quarter-finals, are favourites to win the tie at the Parque Roca, where a capacity 14,000 crowd is expected on all three days. Nalbandian stokes up Hewitt feud Argentina v Australia (Buenos Aires) David Nalbandian has upped the tension ahead of Argentina's Davis Cup semi against Australia by saying Lleyton Hewitt has no friends on the ATP tour. Nalbandian, who is involved in a long-standing feud with the Australian, said: "Nobody is a friend of him. "My victory over him in Australia (in the Davis Cup quarter-finals last year) was not only important for me but for the whole team. "We won in Australia (4-1) and we will again here." Argentina's victory over Australia on grass in Sydney last year was a major surprise. It was inspired by world number four Nalbandian, who won both his singles rubbers and the doubles. If Australia were to respond by winning on clay in Buenos Aires, it would be as big a shock. Hewitt, who has caused controversy by arriving in Argentina with two bodyguards, refused to be drawn into a war of words with Nalbandian. "There's no doubt we're the underdogs and we were disappointed to lose last year, but they beat us fair and square and obviously Nalbandian had a lot to do with that," he said. "We understand the situation and it was a good effort by them to win away from home and it's going to be just as tough for us to do it this weekend." The duo have been kept apart in Friday's opening singles but will meet in the first return singles match on Sunday. Nalbandian will open his side's challenge against Mark Philippoussis on Friday, with Jose Acasuso taking on Lleyton Hewitt in the second rubber. Nalbandian and Agustin Calleri will face Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley in the doubles on Saturday before Nalbandian meets Hewitt and Acasuso plays Philippoussis on Sunday. Australia captain John Fitzgerald is buoyed by being able to call on both Hewitt and Philippoussis for the first time in more than two years.
