Todays match Defending champion Nadal misses two break points in the first game and is made to pay the price Nadal finally earns a break early in the second set and goes on to dominate, levelling things with 6-1 set of his own Nadal then breaks the world number one in the next game and goes on to take the third set 6-4 Nadal has the bit between his teeth now and goes a break up in the fourth set, leaving him serving to regain his title However, the young Spaniard will not be denied and is overcome with joy after clinching a four-set win After his 60th straight win on clay, Nadal says au revoir to Roland Garros, where he has never been beaten

Impressive stuff from Rafa today. It's not anyone who wants to that beats Agassi. Rafa starting to prove a lot of people wrong about whether or not his game can transfer to grass. His will to succeed is admirable.

Todays match Nadal lacks the same composure and loses his first two service games to trail 4-0 in a whirlwind first set After the worst possible start, the young Spaniard takes a moment to regroup and plan his approach to the second set The new strategy pays off with an instant break of serve, to give Nadal hope of getting back into the match Desperate not to lose further ground, the world number two forces a tie-break and moves into a 3-1 lead The third set is a far tighter affair with few errors committed as the players hold serve to set up another tie-break Once again, Nadal powers into a commanding lead to put real pressure on the champion and give himself a fighting chance This time the advantage is not squandered as Federer succumbs 7-2 to put the challenger back in contention With the Swiss serving for the championship, Nadal breaks to raise his hopes but he still has a lot to do to avoid defeat A great 2 weeks is finshed with a runners up trophy at SW19

Nadal Unhurt in Minor Car Accident © Mike Baz ATP World No. 2 Rafael Nadal escaped without injury for a 'minor [car] accident' near the port of Puertocristo in Mallorca. Nadal lost control of the car he was driving after hitting a pot hole and collided - at slow speed - with a power pylon.
But the two-time Roland Garros champion was not hurt and continued his planned fishing trip with friends.
Nadal wrote on his web site, http://www.rafaelnadal.com:
"Hi everyone. I’m writing you this short note to tell you all that I’m fine. As you will have been able to find out through all the different means of communication, I had a minor accident, not serious, this morning at 9.30 when I was driving to the port of Puertocristo on Mallorca. I had been with some friends to go fishing and when I went over a pothole I lost control of the car a little and it made me bump into an electricity pylon. The speed that I was doing was very little (around 30 km/h) and it was all OK.
"Let me tell you that I spent a fantastic day fishing with my friends. We caught something like 30 fish. I will carry on enjoying some days off; it’s been a long time since I had some time off."
Nadal is taking a break from the courts after reaching the final of Wimbledon, where he pushed Roger Federer to four sets.

A German newspaper printed this little article about Rafa enjoying his holidays with his GF Xisca: Aren't they cute together?

Thanks for the pics davis - they do look cute! (altho i think nush mite be a bit jealous ) Nadal pulls out of Mercedes Cup French Open champion Rafael Nadal has been forced out of next week's Mercedes Cup because of a hand problem. The Spaniard suffered the injury on his run to last week's Wimbledon final and has not recovered in time to compete in the claycourt event in Stuttgart. The world number two, who lost to Roger Federer at SW19, will be replaced in the draw by Germany's Denis Gremelmayr. Former French Open champion Gaston Gaudio of Argentina is now the top seed for the £375,000 tournament in Germany. Nadal's injury is not believed to have been caused nor exacerbated by the car crash in Spain in which he was involved on Monday.
