Youzhny hit eight aces and saved all eight break points he faced to record his first win over Berdych since the 2005 ATP Masters Series event in Cincinnati. The Russian, currently No. 22 in the ATP Rankings, has enjoyed a strong start to the 2007 season with one semifinal appearance at Zagreb (l. to Ljubicic) and two quarterfinals at Doha (l. to Ljubicic) and Marseille (l. to Baghdatis). " It's so good to see the boys winning Davai Misha!

I went to the semifinal yesterday and saw Misha play. He played very well and in the second set it was close. Sometimes he was too eager resulting in him losing those points, but he kept it cool and won the tiebreak. The crowd was thrilled with that because off course we all wanted to see a third set!! He had to give a lot in the second set so in the third he was down to 0-3 in no time. I thought it's over, Novak will win this match, but Misha recovered well and fought back. Novak started looking very tired and Misha took advantage of that and won a beautiful match. On to the finals!!! Dutch television is broadcasting the final this afternoon so i'll keep you posted.

Mikhail Youzhny just won the final in Rotterdam!!!! He defeated Ivan Ljubicic in just over 1 hour. The score; 6-2, 6-3. He played a very solid match and he had a lot of confidence. After the match he thanked the crowd, organisation and his coach who has been with him for 14 years already. He said he hopes to see everybody again next year. Before the match started there was an interview with tournamentdirector Richard Krajicek and he said the semifinal on saturday is one of the best matches he has seen being played in Rotterdam in the last ten years. Beautiful compliment for Mikhail (and Novak off course!!).

Hooray for Misha! ;D I've found out that he saved 3 match points yesterday ... Beautiful perfomance! ;D Btw,I hate most of the commentators and their logic ,especially when they have a company of some expert and then together get carried away in their little talks . And of course the ultimate annoying thing about them:commenting matches of the players from their country ...

Congrats Misha! Well done From Eurosport www.eurosport.com/tennis/atp-rotterdam/2007/sport_sto1098044.shtmlYouzhny beats Ljubicic for titleRussian Mikhail Youzhny brushed aside third seed Ivan Ljubicic 6-2 6-4 in a one-sided final at the Rotterdam International on Sunday. Youzhny broke the Croatian twice to clinch the first set in 30 minutes, while a break in the fifth game of second set proved enough to seal his first title since his triumph in St Petersburg in 2004. Ljubicic was lacklustre after his three-set semi-final win over world number three Nikolay Davydenko on Saturday. "I served very good today but I have to thank Nikolay for giving Ivan a tough time last night" Youzhny told reporters. Ljubicic added: "I was so tired after the semi-final. Playing three hours against Davydenko is like six hours against any other player." Youzhny's first win against Ljubicic in seven matches will lift him back into the top 20 of the ATP rankings. The Russian believed he was able to produce his best form in Rotterdam as he did not have to play in Chile for his country in the Davis Cup first-round tie earlier this month. "The Davis Cup coach asked what I preferred and for me that was to play tournaments. But if they had needed me I would have played for Russia," he said. The defeat meant Ljubicic was spared an expensive bar bill as he had promised to buy every spectator a drink if he won the title. Despite losing a second final in three years in the Dutch port city, Ljubicic remained adamant that he would add his name to the banner of champions that circles the centre court. "I feel sorry because I have been playing well this week and really wanted my name on the winners' banner in the stadium," said Ljubicic, who lifted the Doha trophy last month. "In Doha I also succeeded after two lost finals, so I have to be back next year."
