Thanks to my pal Lena (Dream from MTF) for posting bits of Igor's interview for the Russian TV – When did you start feeling that people meet you and want to communicate with you not as a person, but as a famous tennis player?– I don’t think if I go into the street I’ll be recognised. Russia’s huge, Moscow’s huge also… Maybe there are some people interested in tennis who know me, but not many… (many, dear, believe me! – Dream) – A girlfriend means a lot for a player, she’s always there at tournaments to support, her every emotion is shown on TV… What does a girlfriend mean for you? What should she be like?– Erm… Well… Huh… (lol-Dream) She should love me, understand… – Go to the tournaments with you?– Well, if she can, if she has time – yeah… But she should have her own life, do something – study for example… – Will you help Nikita with tennis?– He hasn’t decided yet what to do – hockey or tennis, but whatever he chooses – I will help with pleasure of course. Now he likes hockey more, there’s a team, little bandits (lol again, sweetie – Dream) – Was it hard for your mother when you left for Spain?– It was hard both for her and me. But she understands it’s a part of my life, of my job… She sees I’m happy – and she’s happy too. That’s the most important thing for parents when their kids are OK. Now I try to call her as often as possinle. It’s hard here in Australian because of the difference in time, but when I’m somewhere in Europe – I call home almost every day. – When you have time, where do you rush?– When I’m in Moscow – skating, playing hockey, when at tournaments – computers, Internet… Killing time. – What about your relationship with other tennis players?– I have good relations with Mitya Tursunov. We did carting twice (carting, computers – such kids! lol – Dream), first he won, the next day – me. Today will be the final round… Actually I have good relationship with all guys, maybe our interests with some of them don’t match, with Dima we have close interests. – And the last question… What would you wish to yourself this year?– Erm… Hard to wish something for myself… Play this year without injuries and make my fans pleased and happy (so sweeeet! – Dream) For those who don't know, Nikita is Igor's younger brother

I saw one, too after his match with Almagro and they asked him about his physical state.
He said he was feeling fine, post-surgery recovering went well and he is well and fit right now
They also asked him about his draw and he said it didn't scare him or anything. It's a normal draw and he takes each day as it comes without looking forward. Each match at a time because when you start thinking forward you cannot 200% concentrate on the current game.
Despite the above, they asked him what would happen if him and Kolya will have to meet. Igor said it would be just another tennis match. It will be hard because they are friends but it's their job and they have a chance of meeting every time they enter the same tournament, so this is nothing major, it will be a pity that one of them will have to step down, but it's a game and you can't do anything about it. They asked Igor what he thought about Kolya's performance last year and he was very sweet and praised Kolya a lot. He said when they play doubles, he actually learns things from Kolya and vice versa

Igor's run at AO finished on Saturday (and I got up at 4am on my day off for that ) when Dominik Hrbaty in a 4 hour 5-setter played in +38 C managed to defeat him after being 1:4 down in the 5th set There are a lot of emotions related to this match but I decided to leave this without any comments for now...still a touchy subject for me LOL Good luck in Zagreb next Igor
