she decided not to enter singles and recuperate some strength for the AO. So she entered doubles with Dinara but then Dinara got injured and now Nastya's not playing

No comment Paradorn joins Sydney casualty list 2006-01-12 08:21:20 GMT (Reuters) By Julian Linden SYDNEY, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Thailand's Paradorn Srichaphan joined the mounting casualty list at the Sydney International on Thursday when he withdrew from the Australian Open warm-up event with a thigh strain. Paradorn beat Ivo Karlovic 7-6 7-6 in a delayed second round match that was washed out the previous night to earn a spot in the quarter-finals against Russian second seed Nikolay Davydenko. But he pulled out of his match with Davydenko, due to be played Thursday night, saying he did not want to aggravate the problem with the Open starting on Monday. "I have to listen to my body first," he told a news conference. "The big one is next week, although this tournament is also important for me. "To reach the quarter-final and pull out is not something I really want to do. "But if I keep playing it's going to get worse and then maybe I can't play next week." Paradorn was the eighth player in five days to withdraw from the event, joining Kim Clijsters, Nadia Petrova, Daniela Hantuchova, Dinara Safina, Gisela Dulko, Thomas Johansson and Carlos Moya, reducing the tournament to a battle of the walking wounded. All pulled out because of minor injuries and are expected to play in the Australian Open. Clijsters was considered the most serious after injuring her hip while warming up for her quarter-final against Francesca Schiavone but scans revealed no serious problems. Petrova quit her second round match against Justine Henin-Hardenne because of a groin strain, Hantuchova failed to finish her match against Czech Nicole Vaidisova and Dinari Safina abandoned her match against Svetlana Kuznetsova because of blisters. Dulko retired during her first round match against Maria Kirilenko with an abdominal strain, former Australian Open champion Johansson withdrew before his opening match with a shoulder problem and former world number one Moya pulled out of his match with James Blake because of a hip problem. The Sydney International has been plagued in recent years by players pulling out with minor injuries but this year's mass withdrawals have raised eyebrows. "This happens every year in Sydney, it doesn't happen in different tournaments," Kuznetsova said. "I don't think it's a good image for WTA (Women's Tennis Association). I guess they have to do something about it."
