Agassi Seeks Flying Start in Dubai Andre Agassi took time out from his preparations for the Dubai Tennis Championships Sunday to enjoy an impressive display of falconry. Held in the idyllic surroundings of the Oval Gardens at the One & Only Royal Mirage, Agassi enjoyed a friendly one-to-one with ‘DJ’, a three-year-old female Peregrine falcon. A flying show was also staged with ten-month-old ‘Mosquito’ and Falconer David Stead. Andre took great interest in the historic practice of Bedouin falconry, saying: “It’s amazing to see for the first time how agile and efficient they are, especially their speed and precision. How they function as a predator is pretty amazing. “To get away and experience these things is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can easily see when traveling settles down you’ll remember very specific moments and this is certainly will be one of them.” Agassi said he was delighted to return to Dubai in 2006. “It was quite a life change for me to come here to experience Dubai last year. It showed me that it’s not just another place of the world that I enjoy going to. That’s the easy thing to field but it also taught me how the world can co-exist with many cultures living peacefully together. That gives you a lot of hope.” Agassi returns for a second consecutive year at the US$1 million Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open which includes a star cast of Roger Federer, Marat Safin and Tim Henman.
