interesting men's action going on all over, all at the same time it seems ... *Robby beats Serra 64 64 64 -- and he's the last American standing (in singles) -- who would've thunk?? *Stepanek taking out Tommy 63 62 61 *Gonzo coming back from 2 sets down to start a 5th set against Wawrinka *Lleyton & Ferrer on serve in the 5th goes to show you never know how things are going to shake out ... Melzer up a set on Monfils, Nikolay-Ivan underway ... with Benneteau-Soderling and Fed-Ancic still to come

*Ferrer outlasts Lleyton 64 in the 5th *Gonzo completes the comeback with a 64 5th set win *Igor K & Dima finally are getting their 1st round doubles match underway against Almagro & Hernandez updating ..... what is in the water over there today? *Fed & Ancic continue to wait as Monfils-Melzer is in a 5th set (thought it would have been over long before) *Ljubicic got the 3rd set off Nikolay on the doubles front -- *Igor K & Dima win their doubles match! *next round of doubles will feature an all-American match-up: Bryans v Querrey-Isner

OMG..kolya lost his match.now i have two opposite feelings..i'm somehow a little bit happy because Lubjo took revenge...at the same time i really wanted kolya to go far in this tournament and at least defend his points (since he defeated Marat ) And wowwwwwww..the frenchies are doing great this RG.. i hope PHM can make the surprise tomorrow.. :-)

This could be Maestro's year ... As long as he doesn't get brain cramps again when he's way in front. I think he looks more comfortable on clay this year.
Ivan won?!? I only watched the start of the match - certainly didn't expect that result.

press can't help but ask Dinara about Marat following her mega-comeback-win over Maria:
Q. Have you heard from Marat? DINARA SAFINA: Yes.
Q. Telephone or text? DINARA SAFINA: Text.
Q. What did he say? DINARA SAFINA: Well done. Good play.
Q. You weren't very nice to your racquet at 6‑All in the tiebreak in the first set. How did you feel about that? DINARA SAFINA: I say I'm not the girl to keep all the emotions I have inside. I guess I have to pay lots of fines, because that's the way I am. I prefer to let it go. I cannot ‑‑ I mean, okay, the first set I was ‑‑ my coach told me it was way too much crying. So he prefers also me that I stay at least quiet for a certain moment. I feel that I have to explode then I explode. But first set was too much crying from my side. Like every second ball I was already kind of like talking to myself, and that was the mistake. But once I get the warning I know that I cannot do this anymore, so I have to stay quiet and play.
Q. If we say that sounds like your brother, are we correct? DINARA SAFINA: Yeah. Same lot. (laughter.)
Q. In those moments away from the court at home when you and Marat go out for coffee, or perhaps a vodka, have you ever talked with each other about how wonderful it would be if you each had a Grand Slam title? DINARA SAFINA: I think it's going to be a dream of all our family, you know. Once we do this we can put really the racquet on the wall and say we did everything we could. But to get to his level, I still have to work a little bit harder to get to the level he was.
Q. Did the public help you today? Because we heard a lot of the crowd. DINARA SAFINA: Yeah, in this case, I should say thanks to my brother, because I know the people, French people really love him. So I guess I get half of the support from his part. (laughter.) I really thank them that they were there. Even though I was down 5‑2, but still I could hear people cheering for me. Of course it's always nice, because we play for them.

Watched the highlights of yesterday's play. They showed little sis's match with Moaning Minnie. What a brilliant display to come back from 5-3 in the second set and matchpoint. A deserved win. Good tactics as well to bring Minnie in as her movement approaching the net on clay ain't too good. Well done Dinara. Keep going and get yourself a GS!
